Yes, and it's still childish. It's a revenge, mob mentality, vigilante, response. Unreasoning and totally emotionally based.

Quick, let's find someone to HANG. Then we'll all FEEL better. I expect better from people.

absolutely not "to each their own". Not when that release involves unfair accusations and blame on innocent bystanders

the 'blame game' is a horrible response. these people need to grow up

Didn't say it was the right thing or the logical thing. It was just expected after that sort of tragedy

Ok, then we are all on the same page. We expect people to be unthinking and have unfair kneejerk reactions and comments.

I agree it's silly to even give someone like this airtime. But it does sell advertising space.

A 'lockdown' might have added to the deaths,,,Only a tactical team might have an idea.

There was already a "lock-down" - the shooter himself chained the doors shut so that no one could escape from his rampage. That also means that no one else could enter either. Thus, a campus-wide lockdown wouldn't have changed anything, because all those not yet in the building, couldn't enter, and all those already in the building, were already locked down.

They can't blame so-called "assault weapons". They can't blame gun shows. They can't blame black-market guns. They can't blame saturday night specials. They can't blame high-caliber handguns. Darn! So just where they heck are they supposed lay their blame? Hey, how about blaming the University President! Yeah, that's it! Grab the rope, and let's go get him!

It will take several weeks for the flurry of knee-jerk illogical ideas to subside, which always come about after something like this.

And then six months from now, the conspiracy theories will start...

> and that's just here on DZ,com;)...

It's only natural I guess.. people like to have a little drama in their lives. They feel the need to find a reason for everything and somes times, there just isn't one (or no one left to tell it as it really is).

John and Jennifer Shourds are despicable. Their daughter was not even hurt. They should shut the fuck up.

Cut Mr. Shourds some slack.
I think most parents, even if they think Mr. Shourds is overreacting, understand his gut mentality.

For those of you who aren't parents yet, you should understand that there's something about becoming a parent for the first time that permanently re-hardwires your brain in a way you simply cannot conceive before it happens.

I've been the father of daughters for 18 years. My oldest is making her final decision on where to leave my protecting arms and go off to college next year. All I can think of is the first night we had her home from the hospital after she was born when I stayed up all night in a rocking chair holding and singing to her. My head wants her to go to college and get on with her life. My heart wants to put her in a plexiglass bubble. I hear about campus violence and my heart is in my mouth.

Cut the man some slack.

No, no slack.

You are all worred about this asshole's feelings. He didnt have a tragedy.

What about the U Pres. These kids died on his watch, and Ill bet that he is devastated. Actually, the despicable party here is Fox News. The libelous rant of a jack ass is not news. There are 21,000 students enrolled so there is potentially 42,000 parents opinions. I guarantee Fox shopped for this guys sensationalism.

They obviously agreed because an hour later it was gone....The only link I can find is on this post.

Be glad you have a daughter. You dont want to know all the antics boys engage in the freshman year.

And ...Campus violence should not be your worry, driving there should be. I wont post stats but it is not even close in risk.

I've had many friends of mine die skydiving. Afterwards, I watched what happened to their friends/acquaintances/students/instructors. To say that we shouldn't care about such people's feelings because "it didn't happen to them" is incredibly uncaring; that will be obvious to you if you go through such an experience. Heck, those people may even fly off the handle and may yell at the DZO, or the pilot, or the guy who cut off the deceased. Most people are compassionate enough to cut them some slack instead of reaming them a new asshole.
