first it was guns...

Report: "Banning Offensive Weapons", by the Home Office
The Government has been concerned for some time about the use of offensive weapons in violent crime...
Source: Home Office pdf report

It's nothing more than "Hot-Air" legislation! What "The Government" (meaning politicians) are most concerned about is looking busy and pretending to have an answer regardless...[:/]

Consider;

and tell me what more is needed, and whether this legislation will in fact make any difference?

Johnrich, your title is misleading.

If you bothered to read the post and the attached story, all details were made clear.

Subject titles, by definition, are only concise summaries of the general topic of story.

But just to please you, I've changed the title in this reply. I hope you like it. Is that suitable for you?

Oops, too bad, it got cut off after five lines. Do you see now why subject titles must be concise?

Feel free to provide your own preferred subject title as an example.

first it was guns, then swords, the point is it will not stop here... welcome to overregulation, it seems to be the norm everywhere these days

And...? Does that disturb you in your daily biz over there?

Are you suggesting that no one should care about anything that government does unless it directly and personally affects their daily business?

The genocide in Darfur doesn't personally affect my daily life. So what the hell; fuck 'em all.

That's a nice philosophy for life you have there.

How would I know the title was misleading if I hadn't read the post? Nice logic, have a cookie.
Do you want to have an ideagasm?

You know John, you need to please the crowd. Specially for most of our friends in the UK, so stick with making fun of anything US, and don't dare to reflect any negativity of their castle filled Islands.....

Insult the US president, but don't dare to make any comment of their fucked up royals.....

Amen.

The London Telegraph itself said "Ban Samurai Swords", and I duplicated that story title. If you have a problem with that, perhaps you should go complain to the source.

Since you seem to think that the word "imitation" is so important, we could also discuss the usage of that word. Isn't an imitation samurai sword still a samurai sword? And if so, then the title is still correct, since in fact it is most samurai swords being banned, but with a few exceptions for things like historical artifacts. Likewise, the 1997 British gun ban is still called a gun ban, even though there were a few exceptions to the ban, because it did in fact ban most handguns.

As long as reasonable exceptions are made for martial artists and collectors, restrictions on samurai swords don't bother me.

That could be because you have no respect of the ideals of personal freedom.

You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Is there nothing in America to worry you JR?

If you have some comment you wish to make, spit it out.

I agree with Chris, JR you seem to only worry about us poor old Brits, but were not the ones going nuts in school playgrounds with automatic weapons...but then thats probably only because guns are illegal in the UK. I guess its just a shame that we cant buy a 12 gauge as well as a pint of milk when we go to the shop on a sunday morning:S:S:S

Yeah, the criminals won't be smart enough to just switch to one of those types of swords to get around this ban...

Of course they will John. Surely they're not stupid enough to murder someone with an "illegal" weapon. That would be against the law. Wait a minute...oooooooooooo, I get it!:S:D

That was perfectly legal until the 68 GCA... and the crime rates were STILL lower than they are now... guess it's not the guns after all, hmmm?

You seem to worry only about nuts in school playgrounds in America with automatic weapons, and not about the loss of freedoms in your own country and others.

Bwahahaha - JohnRich, you're always good for a joke - you, dear John, seem to live breaking your head for the poor Brits which are not allowed to CCW :o the poor Brits which have a good life by NOT BREAKING their heads about weapons in their pockets - and very soon, that's my fear: you will jump over the channel and attack the poor mainland Europeans b/c they do not want to CCW. Johnny, I'll wait for you at the border. You're welcome, dear. :)
