Legal question concerning global warming

Recommended Posts

Since the U.S. is a major contributor of greenhouse gases, and there are many small countries being adversely affected by global warming, is it realistically conceivable that these small countries could file a lawsuit against the U.S. for damages caused by these emissions?

Sure. And it's just as realistically conceivable that the US will abide by the rule of law in other areas.

Oh wait. I mean no, it's completely unfathomable.

I'm often asked the question, "Can I be sued for...?"

The answer to that question is "yes." In th eUS you can sue for anything. It doesn't mean you'll win, but you can sue for anything.

Fathomable? It's probably already happened.
