lawrocket 3 #1 February 27, 2007 http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=7599136&ft=1&f=1003 Louis Farrakhan is stepping down from leadership of the Nation of Islam - a fascinating development. I can't help but wonder about the future of the Nation of Islam. Without a leader of Farrakhan's charisma and allure, it may be too difficult to keep the organization from fractionalizing, though, to an exten, that happened with Khalid Abdul Muhammed actually taking some of the most extreme with him when he left. Despite my feelings about Farrakhan and what I perceive as antisemitism, I do not believe that he was as harmful as many seem to believe. My wife is hotter than your wife. Gawain 0 #2 February 27, 2007 I read a couple quotes from his "final" speech. He seemed to step down with some grace. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! warpedskydiver 0 #3 February 27, 2007 Farrakhan is a racist and demagogue, yeah nice guy! I guess you never had to deal with him or his little entourage. They are about as militant as you can get.

He foments vicious bigotry and hatred between people. I also find the case made by those who believe he was complicit in the murder of Malcom X to be compelling. I think those things are pretty goddam harmful.
