You can't smear someone who has made no secret of his attitudes and beliefs. I understand the cynicism, but it's not necessarily that. The MN public is pretty 50/50 in politics, just the left is louder in general. But the far fringes are VERY loud. Franken is worried being a comedian might hurt his chances. Not really, only in the fact that that career choice is was terrible at it. His real issue is his polical stance (not his position on the political spectrum but his ability to lead is in question). On his radio show he's demonstrate a complete inability to work in a courteous fashion with anyone he disagrees with. Losing temper and flinging vitriol at those you disagree with isn't a great way of finding compromise and solutions in politics. He's divisive by nature. He's better off with his radio buddies with similar natures (Rush, Michael Savage, Ann Coulter). I worry he'd be ignored and totally ineffective. He'll pick pointless fights. ... I think most don't know the details. It would be inaccurate to call it a smear, just repeating what he's said.People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
