Then how was slavery repealed after the right of slave ownership was unchanged by our constitution?

Lincoln read the Declaration over and over until he determined that slavery was against the constitution via the DOI.

I know it seemed to be a stretch but I didn't see slavery returning after that.

They're not giving up their rights, they are giving up someone else's rights. If this law affected right they careed about, I'm sure they would be up in arms (figuratively speaking, since they don't give a damn about guns).

What people fail to realize is that if we make it easy to take any rights, even ones we don't like, then it is that much easier to go after the next right, and the next one, until they start taking ones you do care about. But by then, there is no one to stand with you to stop it.
