How do we tell if she's made of wood? She floats!
What else floats? A duck! Weigh her! Weigh her!
Infer what you want, but there is no hard evidence to point whether the report was a result of bad investigating or intentional cover up. We didn't know then, we don't know now, and probably never will know with 100% certainty. Any conclusion is merely opinion.
QuoteYou are quite entitled to your own opinion, but not to your own facts. FACT - Colin Powell was charged with investigating and wrote a report that said everything was fine.
What specifically was Colin Powell charged with investigating? Did it require him to investigate ALL RUMORS of misconduct? Or just to look into the letter in question.
Here are two possible FACTS - The My Lai incident was part of Colin Powell's investigation. The My Lai incident was not part of Colin Powell's investigation.
Your guilt by association efforts are not factual proof of Colin Powell having a role in covering up the My Lai massacre.
I wonder why you have not produced a single quote from a credible source, claiming what you claim?
Not really.

So Hersh showed that Powell participated in the coverup?

QuoteQuoteQuoteQuoteI am not arguing with the proverbs. It's just that when you are speaking of the wealthy, and then quoting factors that speak of "oppression" I want to know how you make the leap between objecting to an increase in minimum wage or not wanting to pay more taxes and oppressing the poor.
Those proverbs speak of oppression. I want to know how it is oppression.
I was simply making the point that many times those of us who claim to be Christians, and against things like abortion, are the same people who oppose legislation that would benefit the poor, mainly because it might require them to get by on a little less.
Then maybe you'd better tailor that tax you're wetting your pants over to your liberal friends, since the conservatives WELL out-do them on donations to charity.
Of course, tax-deductible charities include such things as symphony orchestras, opera companies, art museums, and other favorites where the very wealthy get their names put up on the benefactor's roll of honor. I don't see many homeless people attending the Chicago Symphony.
Somehow, I don't see many people making under 25k attending the orchestras / operas / museums. I can see you didn't bother reading any of the links in that thread, though...
I love you, Shannon and Jim.

You better go ahead and prove that one there cheif.
The taxes are coming, like it or not. Better they help Americans than pay for a pointless war.
As to the idea of taking your money by force - it's called living in a society. Don't like it - head for the mountains like Kazinski.
You should know - you posted in the thread about it. Search is your friend.

More deflating your point... which was the snide remark that the conservative "charity" must be donations to the opera, orchestra, university grant, etc.
Whereas, *IF* you had read what was posted and linked elsewhere, you would have seen that it's the below the poverty line conservatives that are the most generous, and that generosity was NOT including tithing...

Kallend! We agree on something!
That's scary

Perhaps we should arrest all the middle eastern men in this country, between the ages of 18 and 30, who have a strong Muslim faith and have spoken negatively of the US.
Obviously, they're all terrorists.
Now you're grasping at straws.
You are quite entitled to your own opinion, but not to your own facts. FACT - there were atrocities committed in Vietnam by US troops in 1968. FACT - there was an attempt to whitewash the 1968 atrocities. FACT - Colin Powell was charged with investigating and wrote a report that said everything was fine. FACT - that report, ipso facto constitutes being involved in the whitewash. FACT - the atrocities finally came to light months later, no thanks to Powell.
