Eighteen states are considering similar mandates, but Texas is the first to require the shots. Starting in September of 2008, girls entering the 6th grade must get the Gardasil vaccine produced by drug maker "Merck". Authors of a bill calling for that said they will proceed with legislation, despite Friday's action by the governor, to ensure a future Governor doesn't repeal the executive order. Governor Spokesperson Krista Moody said, ''This really revolutionary idea of being able to prevent cancer, and especially cervical cancer, which really impacts so many Texas women is something that he's happy to take on." The government is also the one trying to block independent research linking Merck vaccines to Autism. Every year I have to sign a statement that says if a Measels or Mumps epedemic breaks out, I will keep my non-vaccinated sons home until it's over. Whatever.
