BIGUN 1,506 #3 February 5, 2007 Billvon or Professor Kallend. While I'm on the opposite (yet center-side) of the spectrum; at least I listen to what they have to say.Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. True, but I was curious to see what people thought based on the previous political performance for each individual listed. A politicians "platform" is just like a corporations "vision statement"; A bunch of meaningless bullshit designed to sound like what the public wants to hear. If you want to know what a politician is really about, just look at their voting record: http://votesmart.org/index.htm Search for a politicians bio, then click on the "voting record" link under their photo."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. Andy9o8 3 #7 February 6, 2007 Anyhow, on topic, as a Dem, I like Edwards because, (a) I do like Edwards, and (b) I think he's got the best shot at winning in '08 if the Repub ticket is a strong one. I think Obama is a fine fellow, and I see he has a lot of positive vibe for now. (And as Joe Biden as much as said, while speaking through his toes, He doesn't even sound black when he talks! And he bathes!) But I worry about his relative youth and light-on-experience resume. I think the Repub strategists with the long knives are going to try every despicable thing imaginable to rip him apart viciously, and I wonder whether he can stand up to it when it gets really, really mean (and it will). He might tough it out OK as a Veep candidate. Hell, if Dan Quayle can, anyone can. Hillary has too many negatives that hamper her electability against a well-run Repub campaign. We all know what those are, even when viewed objectively. From a partisan standpoint, I want a ticket that is most likely to win, and I fear that she will scare off "on the fence" votes that another Dem candidate might win over. I'd be happy with an Edwards for President / Obama for VP ticket. I calculate that it would stand a good chance of winning against a strong Repub ticket. An Edwards/Richardson ticket would be a strong one, too, I think.
SkyChimp 0 #8 February 6, 2007 WOW... Obama in the lead so far!!! Not bad for a newbie to the senate. Did the recent media exposure have anything to do with that? mnealtx 0 #9 February 6, 2007 Obama will have to worry about Hillary's 'long knives' well before the Reps' - he truly has an uphill battle to get the nomination, I think.Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
SkyChimp 0 #10 February 6, 2007 You are correct about that.... The Dems have a talent for eating their own young!! Does anyone else find it funny that we made a SPORT out of an EMERGENCY PROCEDURE?!?!

I do think, of all the candidates, Obama tries to be honest and sincere. Then too, he hasn't been around long. All the rest of them are so full of shit... they stink. I wouldn't trust any one of them as far as I could throw a John Deere tractor. Like you said... they only say what they 'think' we want to hear. SkyChimp 0 #12 February 11, 2007 It's like Zell Miller said at the RNC in 2004. Twenty years of votes can tell you much more about a man than twenty weeks of campaign rhetoric. Campaign talk tells people who you want them to think you are. How you vote tells people who you really are deep inside. masterrig 1 #13 February 11, 2007 Lotta truth, right there. I have no idea, who I'll vote for. I want to give this thing a little mor time. Just to see who shoves their foot in their mouth the deepest, who can tell the biggest lies and who can be the biggest dumbass. Right now, Obama just looks like a cool breeze in the desert.
