QuoteWow, I can't believe that happened. I'm sorry that it did. I thought after Vietnam that people learned to separate the politicians from the soldiers. The guys and gals I know in uniform are so amazing. I wish for each and every one's safe return.
Thankfully, I've not seen too much of anything like she described here in DC. I sincerely hope that this does not become a trend. This country's citizens still owe the vets of Vietnam an apology. I hope they don't make the same mistake.

Don't bet on it, Max. A LOT of bleeding heart liberals think that way, but they don't get it, in the same way that those who have chosen to serve think that they can decide which wars they'll fight and which they won't. GIs don't make policy - they are the instruments of policy.
.
Do you feel the same about a Marine that is odered to patrol IED alley in Baghdad?
You should learn a little respect and maybe even some admiration for those who are willing to do a job that perhaps you may be to scared to do yourself.

As for mh, I'm glad we've identified it as those damn bleeding heart liberals.
You're both rediculous.

So why don't you use that same flawless logic and show me how you arrived to this conclusion:
QuoteSo its his fault the lady spit coffee at him????

Secondly, you said WE ARE REDICULOUS, not IMPLYING SUCH AND SUCH IS REDICULOUS...pa.
Thirdly, I implied nothing. I asked a question which I wanted clarification for. If I am wrong about my take then I am wrong and will apologize because I am not too big a man to know when my foot needs to be pulled out of my mouth.

Now go have another cup of coffee.

He did imply that it was his choice to join the armed forces, and as such, has a committment to duty when called upon.
You didn't mean for it to be a question of clarification. Otherwise you wouldn't have followed it up with your blubbering about "respect".
You may remove your foot.
I, unlike Boston, win.

QuoteSorry your SO has to do a re-up.
It shouldn't really need clarification, should it.

I find that kind off behaviour to any armed service personally distasteful

They were more than made up for by the veterans of WWII, Korea and Vietnam. At every airport or bar I went for those first three years; I did not buy a single drink and a lot of my meals were anonymously paid.
Now, it's my turn. I travel a lot and see Soldiers, Marines and Sailors in uniform while traveling. The best thanks we can give is the anonymously bought thank you meal.
Pass it forward doesn't apply to just skydiving.

I rarely if ever travel in uniform, but when I do i recieve the same, I've nevr paid for a drink at an airport while in uniform. It's a greatly appreciated gesture, most people are awesome but there are those few knuckleheads out there with their head so far up their fourth point of contact that they think a good way to protest current affairs is to take a shot at those who give them the right to protest.
To the OP, I'm sorry that happened, it's messed up.History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid.

I love the men and women that pay the price for us. My husband still does, for 82 more days.
Where is your husband based at? You're scared something bad might happen to him w/in these last few days, yes? Only few days more and he'll be back with you, just believe in this and give a s*** on how many cups of coffee might be surfin' the air - take him in your arms, that's all what counts.
Good luck to both of you

I should have mentioned that that's happened, too. Mostly when he was a ranger (they do kind of stick out in a crowd even when they aren't in uniform with those hair cuts.QuoteAt every airport or bar I went for those first three years; I did not buy a single drink and a lot of my meals were anonymously paid.

I think there are plenty of good people that do this kind of thing and I need to remember that. The fact that there are jerks, that would open their mouths and insult or spit or throw things at a soldier for serving, is just beyond my understanding.

That's exactly the kind of thing that makes me smile.
My husband is the most amazing, easy-going man that doesn't have to get his ego stroked to feel good about himself. He doesn't have to fly his banner and tell everyone what he's done. He's confident and never complains.
His WIFE, on the other hand, takes it personally when people get nasty with him.

Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.

OHHHHH SHIT!!!!! That explains a lot!!! They weren't spittin at a soldier, they were spitting at a Ranger. BIG fucking difference. You know how much trouble those bastards cause?!?!!
My Pathfinder class was loaded with those SOB's and every day one of three things was gonna happen - they were gonna get drunk, get laid or get in a fight. Not in that order and if any two of those things happened in a single day, it was a bonus day. And, if one of those things didn't happen - they'd kick each other's ass before lights out just to make sure it was a good Ranger day.
Dear God, woman?!?!? What the hell were you thinking marrying a Ranger?!!?! Shit, I can see it now; bunch of little Rangers-in-training running around the house with their little "high & tights" tearing shit up, doin PLF's off the fridge... Sheesh.

Yeah...all that, and they are 9 year old identical twin boys, about 75 pounds each, totally non-verbal, and have Autism.
NOW tell me how much trouble we're in!!!

DAMN BIGUN I can't stop laughing!! I JUST pulled Joey off of the fridge not 5 minutes ago!!

Have a good night. BTW - I like the short-timers calendar in your sig line
Well said. Your husband deserves the utmost respect upon his return, as all soldiers do.
