Yep. An old friend of mine, Denny, used to be in Seal Team 5. Has some great stories from "back in the day." Not sure when he became a wimp, but he'll be amused to hear it.

Sorry guys, didn't mean it to come off like that, I was just trying to say that IMO the "Home of the Brave" is referring to our military, I could have said the second part better, or just not said it at all, I'll go see if I can pull my foot out of my mouth now, sorry everyone.

Agreed abouty the STUPID reaction in Boston. Jeez!

Stupid and dishonest, they're charged with placing "hoax devices", so according to the mental gymnastics of the local prosecutors it's a hoax if the authorities react to it as such, even when it's clearly not a hoax.

An example I'd like to provide:

Myself and some friends are sunbathing by a lake near Fort Bragg, NC....Nah - minutes few later a mentalist appears in a speed boat going mental over the fact that not only have we crossed the line, we've also took off our life preservers. And gone swimming!!! :o

You know, I'm not trying to be combative here, but; let's look at an alternate scenario.

Picture the EXACT SAME device without the cartoon character on the front.

A black box with batteries and wires hanging out is left hanging by a tollbooth. Everyone (including the authorities) ignores it, and it goes off, killing a few innocent bystanders and maiming more with the debris from its casing of nails and ball bearings.

Can you IMAGINE the chorus of "why didn't somebody notice?" that would ensue?

I mean, I guess I don't expect terrorists to mark their devices with "bomb"...

Edited (as usual) for spelling.

Exactly. The vast majority of Americans dont know or give a fuck as to what the fuck Aqua Teen Hunger Force is. The show sucks, and there's no reason that a stupid-ass picture makes a potential IED seem less dangerous.

The response is understandable. It's best to react and hold those who caused the problem responsible, rather than endure the myriad of lawsuits that would occur if they reacted lesser and innocents were hurt.

It's time to put down the Cheetos and the bong and face reality.

What is reality? Living in constant fear that any and all electronic devices are potential bombs ... no thank you.

Dude, I agree 100% on the rationale. But, I have two comments.

1) The device was thin and had some lights. The batteries were the only bulge, and in the pictures they are exposed as batteries. I think it is not too far fetched for a police officer bomb squad guy to ask, "could this be a bomb?" But, I think someone did not use their common sense.

2) Ok, so lets say their reaction was appropriate and "cautious"... I have to ask, would I as a DA charge the people who placed them. I am a smart guy (or at least I think I am). I would have placed these lit signs and NEVER assumed my government would think I was trying to bomb the world. Perhaps trespassing. Defacing property, they were harmless. Littering perhaps... I mean, they are funny lit signs, simular to what people put on their houses for Christmas. There was no mallicious intent...

But the City of Boston now is pressing charges against these guys as a hoax.

The worst you could charge them for is "stupidity", but without them actually intending (and predicting) the lit signs would actually cause a bomb scare, how can you charge them?

Next, someone is going to throw away some unique piece of obsolete technology in a public trash can, and when someone says "oh wires, it must be a bomb", be charged for a hoax...

Over the top.

Oh very good, everyone who doesn't like the boot stomping on their face must be high because it's so obviously good for them.

The hallucinations and paranoia are all from your camp on this issue. A small board with flashing lights as a means of concealing an attack? GET SMART.

If anyone did get hurt you can be sure of one thing, lots of finger pointing by the same bozos baying for blood now.

You can't legitimately charge these guys with anything beyond perhaps litering. This was not a HOAX, you have to redefine that word to trump up these charges, I don't care how pissed off you or the asshole prosecutors are in Boston, phoney charges is an abuse of the law and due process.

Now get your jackboot off our necks!

You mean like a big radio. (Lots of batteries, wires, big displays etc.) Are you saying we should outlaw devices with batteries and wires? Or that a toll booth attendant that panicked when they saw a man with a big radio, and shut down the highway, was showing good judgement?

Why is it that only Boston reacted like this? These devices advertising the movie were put up in a variety of other cities. The morning news showed 20 of them were found around Chicago and now they want Turner to pay for their removal.

Placed around/under bridges--how fucking stupid do you have to be to fuck about with infrastructure? What's next, putting them on the cooling tower of a nuke plant, or at airports next to taxiways or in concourses?

CN should be made to pay for being royal fucktards at the least, and for wasting money because of the disruption of day to day commerce and the required response of the police to avoid lawsuits in the event this was an actual attack.

Fucking whiny pricks. You don't fuck about like this and then whine like a little girl when consequences hit...
