billvon 3,132 #1 January 30, 2007 And now. in the interests of balance, I present the top ten beliefs that neo-cons hold nowadays. Note that this does not refer to your average conservative; by and large they are far more common sense than your average neo-con. Top 10 Neocon Beliefs: - There really were WMD's in Iraq, and the US investigators, the president and the CIA are lying about it. It's all part of the left-wing conspiracy. Liberal media. Activist judges. Defeatocrats. - Most of the people we are fighting in Iraq are foreign terrorists who would otherwise be blowing up the Sears Tower, not Iraqis who have turned against us - no matter what our intelligence says. - We are winning the war in Iraq, and the only reason things seem bad are liberal media lies. The surviving journalists are intentionally making it seem like Iraq is a dangerous place. - We are not winning the war in Iraq because the democrats don't support it. - When democrats disagree with the effectiveness of a proposed escalation, they are "emboldening the enemy" by making it sound like we're not going to win. When our president states we are not winning the war, he is merely stating facts. - Sending a man to his death is supporting him. Attempting to get him home safely to his family is "spitting on him." -The only mistake we made in Vietnam was not staying longer, and we better learn that lesson if we want to win in Iraq. Also, Vietnam has absolutely nothing to do with Iraq. These two statements are simultaneously true. - Most of our troops support the Iraq war no matter what they say. -There is no such thing as global warming. There is warming going on, but it's natural and man doesn't affect it much. Man is causing most of the warming, but it's a good thing. All three of those statements are simultaneously true. - Reducing pollution or CO2 emissions will somehow make liberals and terrorists rich and will bankrupt conservatives, hardworking families and our allies. That's why liberals believe in global warming and pollution - greed and a desire to destroy america.

Gawain 0 #17 January 31, 2007 I'm not a neo-con, but some of these are, um, just a touch off the mark. QuoteTop 10 Neocon Beliefs: - There really were WMD's in Iraq, and the US investigators, the president and the CIA are lying about it. It's all part of the left-wing conspiracy. Liberal media. Activist judges. Defeatocrats. Did we find the stockpiles from an active program, apparently not. Were stockpiles from old programs found? Oh yeah, many hundreds of shells. Despite being old, could they still kill a bunch of people? I don't know. Quote- Most of the people we are fighting in Iraq are foreign terrorists who would otherwise be blowing up the Sears Tower, not Iraqis who have turned against us - no matter what our intelligence says. I don't know about anyone else, but the majority of the guys we were running up against weren't Iraqi nationals. Quote- We are winning the war in Iraq, and the only reason things seem bad are liberal media lies. The surviving journalists are intentionally making it seem like Iraq is a dangerous place. Iraq is certainly dangerous, but I think even you'd be hard pressed to tell me that you think the media is doing a good job covering what's going on over there. Quote- We are not winning the war in Iraq because the democrats don't support it. I won't agree with that statement, but it is half right: the democrats aren't supporting it and it does affect the troops. Quote- When democrats disagree with the effectiveness of a proposed escalation, they are "emboldening the enemy" by making it sound like we're not going to win. When our president states we are not winning the war, he is merely stating facts. That's not a very even comparison. If you knew your adversary's support and political foundation was eroding, you wouldn't see that and attempt to exploit it? I'm sure the allies were able to glean something from events prior to actual invasion of Germany. Quote-The only mistake we made in Vietnam was not staying longer, and we better learn that lesson if we want to win in Iraq. Also, Vietnam has absolutely nothing to do with Iraq. These two statements are simultaneously true. By the time Nixon was done with (bombing) them, they were, for the first time, a beaten nation. However, there was no more time, or will to do the job anymore. Quote- Most of our troops support the Iraq war no matter what they say. We train to do a job that we hope we never have to do. If we're sent to do it. Let us do it, encourage us, keep the politics at the water's edge, make sure we have what we need, and stop griping about some ill perceived sense of us not doing it to advance a political agenda. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! Hmmm . . . lemme mull this one over for a few minutes. I suppose you'd be right if we were talking about a race of people, but we're not. We're talking about a political movement. If people blindly follow a corrupt, brutal dictator yet one that is so charismatic that he is able to get people to follow him, don't they ultimately get what they deserve? If people follow a cult leader and literally drink the koolaid . . . isn't it their own dang fault for being sheep? If Bo and Peep tell me to castrate myself and follow them to the comet . . . if I do that . . . aren't I kinda, well, a dumb fuck?quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

quade 4 #24 January 31, 2007 In any movement you can only have a few leaders. To my knowledge, nobody on this web site is a leader of the neo-conservative mevement. That said, if any of the people on this web site ARE leaders of the neo-conservative movement, please let me know and I'll redress the post.
