Bad fucking taste!!!!! shhhhh i'm sure the average American doesn't want to be reminded of how they allowed people to fund a terrorist organisation (the IRA) the (very much American funded) terrorist campaign that resulted in over 3000 (more than 9/11) innocent deaths was ok because it wasn't on their soil, so the American government turns a blind eye to funding terror, they don't want to go upsetting those plastic fucking irish in NY anyway... but as soon as their soil is attacked (inevitable) then they conveniently ignore their terror funding, and suddenly go on a world campaign to fight the good fight double standards? i think so
Nick 0 #14 January 30, 2007 I know, how the fuck some Americans justify going in to Afganistan and Iraq after OBl and AQ on the back of their terrorist activities when they bank rolled the IRA to the tune of something like $20m is amazing. The level of hypocrisyis amazing. Maybe we should start giving money to AQ to make things even, or we should name a drink after the twin towers of 911 and then laugh about how funney it is. dorbie 0 #22 January 31, 2007 QuoteNot heard that one, and personnally I've never joked about IRA terrorism, perhaps you know more about me that I do. I never claimed to, but I know enough Brits to see when someone is being pompous over a cocktail name. Some Americans absolutely do have blood on their hands over support for the IRA, I've said as much myself in the past. They learned their lesson the hard way. You should be aware that it was Gadhafi who really pushed the Provos capability over the top after Reagan bombed Tripoli from UK bases. Terrorists are opportunists when it comes to garnering support. Britain has well & truly been on the front line in more ways than one.
VincentVL. 0 #23 January 31, 2007 The thing I don't get about torrirests? Why do they always insist on making innocent victims? I mean...why not put some effort (or better yet: sense) into the last thing you do (literally...). Is it really so much harder to make a kill that actually makes (a little) sense, than to bomb a bunch of clueless people eating icecream? Ex. Mcveigh. Why does he choose to bomb a building full of women and children who have fuck all to do with the actual goverment? Ex. Columbine. Why didn't they target the kids who actually picked on them? Ex. Bush administration. Why does it condone torture/murder of (obviously) innocent people? I understand, that desperate people do desperate things. Let's face it...if someone killed my entire family I wouldn't really care if I had to die as well. But why opt for innocent people, instead of those directly "responsible"? Food for thought... Edited to say: I realise the examples are a little one sided. So here's another ex.: Hamas. Why don't they exclusively target leaders of the opposing forces? Nick 0 #24 January 31, 2007 I just get really pissed off with this "war against terror" that has started since you guys got hit on 9/11. Before that some (and I will admit that it was a few) bank rolled the IRA to the tune of approx. £20m a year and glorified them. Some times it just smacks of the worst hypocrisy that before 9/11 terrorism (by some) was seen as good, post 9/11 we all have to support America in their fight against terrorism, where was the fight against terrorism before that.... Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
dorbie 0 #25 January 31, 2007 Well I'm British so I guess your "you guys" applies to someone else. Although there were plenty of Brits murdered on 9-11. As I may have mentioned earlier it's all about perception. Americans are idealists, the assholes who funded the IRA were thinking they were funding freedom fighters from the old country to free themselves from oppression. The were probably thinking Boston tea party and founding fathers instead of where their moral obligation lay with the whole complicated messy fucked up situation, murdering women & kids, organized crime and a deranged sectarian cycle of violence between two resident populations. This would not have been on their radar, it doesn't excuse the responsibility for their actions, they were ignorant. The reality is 9-11 brought the consequences of terrorism into sharp focus for most Americans. They get it and it was a bitter lesson.
