Just fucking great. Black history month is right around the corner. 28 days of listening to black people bitch about all of the hardships they have had to overcome. When will people realize celebrating ones existence solely because of their fucking skin color is in fact racism. Let it go, quit fucking dwelling on the past and learn to look toward the future.

Slavery does not exist today. Segregation does not exist today. Minorities have been given and currently receive plenty of benefits to help advance within society. Quit your fucking bitching, be happy with the fact that you live in a free society, one that does provide numerous benefits to you simply because of your skin color and / or nationality.

Is there still racism today? Sure. There is racism effecting all races and nationalities. Not just Black people. Does dwelling on the past do any good? In my opinion, fuck no. Get over it. Society does not owe you anything. Just because your fucking great great great grandfather/mother may have been a slave does not mean that you deserve sympathy today. YOU were not the slave. You deserve nothing.

If any race has the right to bitch in todays day and age it is the white race. We receive ZERO benefits based on our skin color. However, one mention of this fact and we are labeled racist.

NAACP, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Louis Farrakhan, etc. In celebration of Black History Month here's a big fucking middle finger from me to you, you worthless racist fucks.

The amount of hate spewed forth in that post only proves why the month is needed.

I don't know much about black history in america.

But I do live in Tanzania and down the road is an old building where slaves used to be bought and sold.

There are many African americans and I would assume that the vast majortiy of these have come from the historic slave trade in America?

from watching the media it seems it is cooler to be black than white (eg, justing timberlake talking like a Negro etc.:D) it is prevalant in the entertainment industry. Dr dre made the most money 'IN ENTERTAINMENT' a couple of years ago and i would think it was not only black people buying the albums?, so it seems it is cool to be black. EG, wiggas (white niggas:D) 'tommy hilfiger' was invented to cater for this market!

That doesn't take away from the fact of how all the african americans came to be. Racism is still abundant in certain areas and education is needed to rid this disease.

Black history month is part of this education.

At my local Kroger, every employee is black except the manager who is white. 99% of people riding the public transport system here are black.

How do you explain that.

I would explain that by saying that those individuals filled out an employment application form, and most likely did not request the managers position.

When I was growing up.. there were VERY FEW black faces found in our history books.. or native american either.. except for how they were savages...etc.

I am younger than you and I can tell you that there was black history in MY textbooks. So please don't paint me with your views and personal experiences....I am not your generation, lots of things have changed.

No, we don't always "bust out the race card," nor do we all dress improperly ("proper dress" is open to interpretation) and not speak well. If you truly believe that, then you don't know ANYTHING about Black people and would actually benefit from some of the things the go on during Black History Month. As much as you'd love to believe it and see it on television, we're not all the same. As the world is bigger than you, it would be of great benefit to learn about something other than your immediate surroundings.

Having not seen your textbooks and taking your word for it, I'm happy my/our history is now included. Simply put, if the texts just told the truth, the entire, whole truth, there would be no need for Black History Month. There have apparently been strides toward making them more accurate which in part came from people opening their mouthes and saying "Hey, this isn't right." A closed mouth doesn't get fed.

Or you could look in the mirror and say it to yourself every morning. You're guilty of what you're accusing others of. You obviously don't know "a good portion of the black population" because we could care less about funks and those who think like you. If you don't like Black History Month then put a stop payment on the check you wrote to F.U.N.K.S (the Foundation for Underage Negro Kid Skydivers). Get a bar.

DUDE.. face it.. EVERY MONTH is white history month.. get over it already.

I call bullshit on that. I'm pretty sure that if I started a "White History Month" thread in the bonfire and posted about great moments in white history, I would get permanently banned. However, if I did the same for "Black History Month" it would be ok.

I see no hatred in the OP, just frustration. What he was pointing out is that things ain't even *close* to being in a state of "neither side giving a shit".

IMO, your choice of the words "neither side" is very telling. What are the two sides *you* see? Black vs. white? Racists vs. non-racists?

Whatever two sides you see, I think you are oblivious to the fact that there are a great many people who look at the issue from the *outside* and think it's *all* a ridiculous waste of time and energy. I think that is where the OP was coming from.

Learning from the past does not equate to living in the past and there seems to be a lot of people who have the two confused.

Not unless one of the "great moments" you posted was the assassination of a black leader or something. (And yes, if someone posted a "black history month" thread and considered the assassination of JFK to be a great moment, that would get deleted as well.) There is no restriction here about talking about controversial topics, but there is one against hate posts.

The point the original poster is making is there's no need for "White History Month" because in the US the vast majority of history is told from a white person's perspective. Thumb through a high school history text book and see how many "great moments" don't involve white people.

Again, if history books were writen with the whole truth in mind there's wouldn't be the need for Black History Month.

When history books are written with the whole truth in mind, kids will realize that the people in control are often greedy, corrupt slimeballs. The whole truth ain't always pretty so it's never going to end up in the history books.

I'm not debating the rationale behind why history is worded the way it is; just the effects. I had a high school AP history teacher who spent the entire semester exposing the "truth" and since then I've always questioned things. That's a good thing. He, amongst others, helped me become a critical thinker.

I think that is in the most part due to....And please don't take this wrong....For a large portion of American history blacks were not making that much history. Most textbooks only really started taking about blacks as history makers in the US about the Civil War. Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, Dougless and his work in education, Later it exploded with Dr. King, Rosa Parks and the equal rights movement.

One of my heros is George Washinton Carver. And I went WAY out of my way to meet the Tuskegee Airmen.

Blacks have the United Nego College Fund.

What would happen if there was a United White College Fund?

http://media.www.thebatt.com/media/storage/paper657/news/2003/03/04/Opinion/Funding.White.Education-513994.shtml?sourcedomain=www.thebatt.com&MIIHost=media.collegepublisher.com

"Coday is taking the much-needed step of calling attention to the idea that black-only groups and scholarships are acceptable, whereas the same kinds of "white" activities would be labeled racist in today's society. "If I were to have a white students' association or host a Miss White Lubbock pageant, people would say I was racist,"

And he is correct. He would be called racist even if he is doing the SAME thing.

Why would you need a Black Miss USA? And how would that same thing not apply to a White Miss USA?

Where the fuck did I say anything about race based quotas or "diversity training"? But now that you bring it up. I have been a victim of race based quotas. I was passed up for a promotion even though the guy that was promoted took the same test as me and had the same study materials as me, He placed 36th out of 36...I placed number 1. He was promoted I was not. It happens. He ended up being a great officer...it wasn't fair to me at all BUT I don't hold grudges. as you seem to alude to in your post.

I also think that diversity training happens every day. learning about other people is a GOOD thing...whether they be black, white, irish, chinese, japanese...etc..etc.etc. What is so wrong with learning other peoples cultures??? or the HISTORY of there cultures.

You surprise me with the closed mind you have. I once respected you Walt, but I can not say that now.

You didn't say anything about quotas or "diversity" training--I did. I place them in the same category as Black History Month because I see them all as being very misguided.

Where did I say I have a problem with learning other cultures? I don't. I consider it interesting and fun. The brand of "diversity training" that exists in corporate America, from what I hear, only focuses on ONE culture.

As for my closed mind, I've gotta admit that I enjoy the irony of you losing all respect for me over one post that you seem to have misinterpreted. Could it be that you have a closed mind? Nah....

Let's say the scores were the other way around and you placed last and were offered the promotion because you were white. Would you accept the promotion?

Why or why not?

talking like a Negro

What does "talking like a Negro" mean? What do "Negro's" sound like? Can you help explain that to me?

Might want to drop the possessive and I think it's probably spelled Negroes.

I assume what he means is talking ghetto, hip hop, ebonics, that kind of thing.
