When Saddam invaded Kuwait, his reasons were valid (to him of course) but we called it lies and we kicked his ass.
We invade based on lies and they are still trying to perpetuate the war. It is a war crime at the very least

>38-days... total, for the year 2006!
The original intent of the US congress was that it would be made of people - farmers, businessmen, laborers - who had 'real' jobs and just spent a few weeks every year in Washington taking care of the basics of government. Since then, of course, it's changed a great deal, but the original intent was that they _not_ work all year.
In some ways I'd prefer them to work less. We sure don't need a whole lot of new laws.

I can't see anyone in the House or on the Side Lines that could cutthe mustard.... and that is the crying shame of it.
Boris Johnson!!
Hey at least he has comedy value.
I grew up under Thatcher and vowed never to vote Conservative.... but if Boris was at the helm I would! I think he's the only politician you can trust. I wish he would set up his own political party, then I could vote for him without voting conservative.

the men (at the moment they are mostly men and i use the term in its broader sense) are largely unqualified.
unfortunately the nature of politics drives the 'real leaders' away from even considering.....
one of the fundamental flaws in democracy is it gives equal weight to the opinion of those who take time, do the research and select a candidate based on qualifications and platform with those who are completely ignorant of the same..
would you get on a plane whose pilot was 'elected' by 'popular vote'?
i wouldn't.. i wouldn't trust it to even power up correctly...

QuoteOff on a tangent, I think the quality of our leaders (especially the political ones) is a reflection of our society and our society's values.
God I hope not, that speaks volumes of trash about our people. I think Americans are better than Bush and company.

QuoteI respect a fair amount of our judicial branch, a little bit of our legislative branch, and essentially none of our executive branch.
Blues,
Dave
Judicial branch? Are u f'n kidding? At the high court, they 9-0'd the HMP decision, passed the public domain decision and have really fucked things up.

I'm a yes person.
The leader of New Zealand is a wonderful woman (though butt ugly)
Helen Clark has really Kept our country moving and Is not a cock sucker like other Prime ministers (eg, tony blair, and the aussie guy whats his name again?)
She is well educated, well spoken and actually makes her own decisions (unlike some puppets we know of)
Her stand on the war on terror was amazing and she stood firm with her beliefs that were proved to be correct.
our countries stand on war is a peace keeping one. the majority of our military funds go to peace keeping efforts.
She has climbed NZ's highest mountain (Aoraki, 12000' and a technical climb) and is not afraid to be amoungst the people.
She gets my complete respect!
I also have to mention that I also totally respect a former leader of our country his name is David Lange.
His govornment made New Zealand a nuclear free country. You can just imagine the pressures he had in world summits etc. to let nuclear powered ships and subs into our ports. He basicly told the rest of the world to 'Fuck off' with thier nuclear bullshit and stay the fuck away from our paradise with the time bombs!
He da man!
NZ is heaven on earth..... me jealous

QuoteI believe you are confusing politition with corrupted politition.
Ther have been many good polititions in history and just because of the bad eggs doesn't mean they are all evil.
If someone wants to become a politition to create a positive impact they should not be discouraged, that is an admirable ambition. If they want become a politition to lap up fringe benifits and do fuck all then the should most certainly be discouraged
If they do make positive changes, or try to, they get murdered...... Lincoln, Kennedy, Kennedy.

Helen Clark is a honest woman and as part of her last campain she clearly stated that she followed through with every promise made in the last election prior to her geing re-elected.
She did follow through with all her promises.
The political system in the U.S. and england do not represent the worlds stand on politics. if anything it has shown us all how things should not be done.

What is so boring about a country that has diverse landscapes, oceans and beaches, mountains, lakes forests, and a small town that is known as the adventure capital of the world? we also have macdonalds and KFC, cinemas, shopping malls and so on if you are that way inclined.
What is boring about New Zealand? the fact that you don't get mugged or murdered?

'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'

I would think the best night life in New Zealand would be in wellington(did you go there?). Most of the countries best musicians are from or based in wellington.
that shit cost too much money and makes you feel like shit the next day anyway.
i used to go out alot but that was when i was single and spent all my money gorking at lusty females that were probably already taken.

I am engaged now so no need for that

If i want a concert I go to one.
Pink Floyd is playing in my home town this evening but I am not in the country

It is all about pros, cons and expectations.
Now that IS a good answer - thanks.

I still think sometimes that the First should have stopped after "Congress shall make no law"....

I love you, Shannon and Jim.

Yes, I agree. The furthest south I got was Rotarua, but I generally stayed around Auckland as I was over to visit family.
I'll visit the South Island eventually. I have thought about living in NZ one day - but unfortunately for me and the Mrs, the distance we'd be from our families in Europe is too excessive.
Maybe that's why it's still a great country?
Out of curiousity, how much does your average 4 bedroom house cost around Auckland these days?
(NZ Dollars is fine - I'll convert it)
