A poem

As I am getting ready for my very first jump, I was at work the other day watching a work squad strip paint and while the logic of the Great State of Texas giving convicted felons sharp paint scrapers and chains (please do not ask) to strip paint with escapes me I did have the following thing pop in to my tiny little brain. It is from the view point of someone making their first jump and is also paying homage to Robert Frost and his poem The Road Not Taken. I thought I would share it and maybe some of you will like it and some of you will hate it but here it goes:

First Step
By
Loco Cerveza

Today, I take my first step,
Down a road less traveled.
A road not found in any city,
Nor, in a yellow wood,
But only in the sky above.
I am no longer an earth bound creature,
Escaping gravities prison,
If only for a moment in time.
Many have looked,
Some have wondered,
But only a few have dared,
To travel the road,
Linking heaven to earth.
Remember that expectant life span is an average, and most people are below average
