so... tell everyone in the Speakers Corner... I don't want to hear about it in the Bonfire... :P:D

What if we change the topic to how much it sucks to have the TV schedule interrupted? That's Bonfire-esque.:D

Did anyone appreciate Jim Webb's speech rebuttal of the address?

He may be contacted at the following address:
http://www.webbforsenate.com/contact/index.php

I have already contacted him thanking him for his support of the flailing working class under an administration that cares nothing at all about the average American.

During his speech, Bush made his point, Namely, that he doesnt mind using OUR tax dollars to the benefit of those overseas, while at the same time, robbing us of our jobs and plundering the economy. The average American under this administration is just plain screwed, has absolutely no importance in the world whatsoever, doesnt count for anything at all, other than someone who can be lied to, robbed and abused for the benefit of foreign interests.

I have had enough. More than enough, for a long, long time now. If youve had enough, then contact Jim Webb (D) Virginia, and show support for the points he made during his speech.

Things under this bizarre administration are deteriorating fast. We all need to do anything we can, everything we can, to put a stop to this insanity before things go any furthur. There has been an ungodly amount of damage done to the reputation of this country, to the welfare of this country, and to the economy of this country, by the Bush administration. It just has to stop, and it has to stop now. Write Congressmen, voice your opinion, do whatever you can however you can, with whatever time you have.

We just cant afford to keep sleeping it off and hoping for some miracle to happen. The enemy is in the White House, it is called the Bush administration, and it will destroy us all if we dont start doing something about it.

I think it's sad that the people of this nation don't pay more attention to what our government is doing, even if they don't agree with it. We do live in one of if not the best nation in the world and all most people are worried about is that there TV is disturbed[:/]

I have to agree 100%. I was hoping to hear more on healthcare, mostly on medicare/medicaid and funding to help us with HIV but what I heard was just back patting and nothing substantial. I'm glad that people in Africa are getting the meds that they need but, what about Americans? My meds were cut off 5 years ago. My medicaid was cut off last year and my medicare ended on Jan. 1st (I went ahead and stopped it several months ago to save myself the money that I paid to have it. Seeing that it was going to end, there was no reason to wait untill Jan 1st.. Being that I only got 2 visits to the doc a year it was a major waste of money that I could use for food and bills). I am not to happy to see that people in Africa are more important to our government than its own people. How about sending me some free meds? Another lame speech by a lame duck.

They should send you some free meds, after all, you paid for them! Now, they see fit to deny you of the medical help that you PAID for out of your own pocket, and they are using your money to give someone else the medical benefits that youve earned. And why? Because under this administration, you dont matter, you are not importand, you dont count for anything.

Im sorry to see you having to go through that kind of garbage, but this is a perfect example of what I am talking about. This administration is not on our side, and never has been.

I really wanted to jump through the tv screen and strangle the guy. He talked about how much the US did for fighting HIV/AIDS when the truth is is that no sooner than he signed the AIDS bill, he cut most of the funding and then passed what was left to religous groups (anyone who does not believe this, do a search "Bush cuts AIDS funding"). By doing so HIV is once again on the rise after so many years in decline. Abstinence programs have been proven to be ineffective where as education has been proven to reduce infections. More than 50% of the people in the US with HIV get absolutely no treatment and soon the death rate for infected individuals will rise much like in the 80's and the 90's. For this, Bush should be completely ashamed for what he said in this speech. Unfortunately, he has no shame. I, for one, am ashamed of this president and can never support him or any of his policies. Time to contact Jim Webb. Better late than never. Should had done so long ago.

Well, I am extremely ashamed of having someone like that in the White House representing this country. And, ofcourse, it doesnt stop there. Like in Abu Gharib, where kidnapped prisoners were forced to have homosexual sex acts with each other at gun point.

This is how Americans are being represented to the rest of the world, as a bunch of sick, murdering perverts, with Bush leading the way.

Jim Webb has helped me recover my view of what this country is. Im glad there is a politician out there that is a real, and honorable American, who also has served honorably in the military, unlike Bush, who couldnt even fulfill his obligations in the National Guard.

Im appalled that there are people out there who will actually support someone like Bush and his band of maniacs. People like that have no regard for this country at all and lack any form of moral character whatsoever. But do they care? Ofcourse not. And that makes them who they are.

Its a free country, which means they can trash it all they want. And they do.

Wow what wonderful eloquence from the former Reagan Secretary of the Navy..

With respect to foreign policy, this country has patiently endured a mismanaged war for nearly four years. Many, including myself, warned even before the war began that it was unnecessary, that it would take our energy and attention away from the larger war against terrorism, and that invading and occupying Iraq would leave us strategically vulnerable in the most violent and turbulent corner of the world.

I want to share with all of you a picture that I have carried with me for more than 50 years. This is my father, when he was a young Air Force captain, flying cargo planes during the Berlin Airlift. He sent us the picture from Germany, as we waited for him, back here at home. When I was a small boy, I used to take the picture to bed with me every night, because for more than three years my father was deployed, unable to live with us full-time, serving overseas or in bases where there was no family housing. I still keep it, to remind me of the sacrifices that my mother and others had to make, over and over again, as my father gladly served our country. I was proud to follow in his footsteps, serving as a Marine in Vietnam. My brother did as well, serving as a Marine helicopter pilot. My son has joined the tradition, now serving as an infantry Marine in Iraq.

Like so many other Americans, today and throughout our history, we serve and have served, not for political reasons, but because we love our country. On the political issues — those matters of war and peace, and in some cases of life and death — we trusted the judgment of our national leaders. We hoped that they would be right, that they would measure with accuracy the value of
our lives against the enormity of the national interest that might call upon us to go into harm¹s way.

We owed them our loyalty, as Americans, and we gave it. But they owed us — sound judgment, clear thinking, concern for our welfare, a guarantee that the threat to our country was equal to the price we might be called upon to pay in defending it.

The president took us into this war recklessly. He disregarded warnings from the national security adviser during the first Gulf War, the chief of staff of the army, two former commanding generals of the Central Command, whose jurisdiction includes Iraq, the director of operations on the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and many, many others with great integrity and long experience in national security affairs. We are now, as a nation, held hostage to the predictable — and predicted — disarray that has followed.

The war's costs to our nation have been staggering. Financially. The damage to our reputation around the world. The lost opportunities to defeat the forces of international terrorism. And especially the precious blood of our citizens who have stepped forward to serve.

The majority of the nation no longer supports the way this war is being fought; nor does the majority of our military. We need a new direction. Not one step back from the war against international terrorism. Not a precipitous withdrawal that ignores the possibility of further chaos. But an immediate shift toward strong regionally-based diplomacy, a policy that takes our soldiers off the streets of Iraq¹s cities, and a formula that will in short order allow our combat forces to leave Iraq.

Robbing jobs and plundering the economy? Got some numbers for that, since all the economic indicators are on the rise and have been?

I don't dispute the debt - that has been rising for decades (and yes, I know it's risen faster under Repub administrations - so much for 'smaller gov't', huh?) - he was talking about 'plundering the ECONOMY', that's what I'm asking him for numbers on, since the economic indicators are up.

They don't, but it doens't matter.

You realize that any Reb president from here on will be treated this way, will be called the same names and will be accused of destroying all the same things.

Irational hatred because ?????

Now, before you others choose to flame me as one that loves all Bush does you can stop right now becaue you can find many posts where I do not agree with him but, I believe he understands what is at stake with Isamo nut cases.

We have satellite, so it's easy enough to surf around and find reruns of Scrubs all over. In between, the Australian Open is playing.

Yea because only crazy nutcases would want to kill troops who have invaded their homes, and have killed 30K+ many estimates even higher.

You say they want us dead or converted, I asked sunny the same questions.

Who wants us dead and converted?

If you are referring to the less then 1% crazy fucks, then hell we should nuke Pat Robertson as well.
As for the other issues.

Do you seriously think that our actions are not the cause of so much hate?

Maybe I am not as smart as you guys, but it doesn’t take much to understand if you kill people, and destroy there homes guess what there going to hate you.
