happythoughts 0 #1 January 23, 2007 I watched a discussion last evening on the US business climate. The issues fell into 3 categories. 1- litigation. Companies feared that lawsuits would cripple any growth or profits. Even cases of the type where medical lawsuits were filed 20 years after the product was used. The breast implant lawsuits are fresh in the minds of bio-tech firms. The "deep pockets" target. 2- seizure. Eastern European or Mid-East companies fear that the US govt may seize their assets as during 9-11. 3- dollar value. If the dollar devalues compared to other currencies, then their profits are worth less when moved out of the country.
