Hunters For The Hungry

The Georgia Hunters for the Hungry is a program through which deer, donated by hunters, become nutritious venison to benefit those who need it the most.

Collections totaled almost 29,000 pounds of venison — the highest amount of pounds ever collected in one year by this program. In total, hunters have donated almost 200,000 pounds of venison since the inception of this program in 1993.

“The amount of meat donated this year to this program will make more than 112,000 meals for people who are most in need of nutrition...”

Sounds like a good program.. especially in states with an overpopulation of the beasties...

HEre in WA though.. its one deer per year per hunter....( IF they are good enough to get one) and if they draw the right tag for the right area:S

If they did it around here, maybe these "field rats" would stay off the highways and out of the city dumpsters. (Note, we aren't "intruding" on their wilderness, the state is 90% wilderness).

Furthermore, some previous presidents fool around with the interns and lie about it.

I can remember a thread a while back where you where putting down hunting in the midwest because we don't have the variety of game you do out there.
I shoot and eat several deer every year so this would be a major problem for me.
That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.

We do have variety.. Elk 2 species... deer 3 species..Bear 2 species...mountian goat.. moutain sheep.. 3 species of kitties. but you do have to pick your area of the state and get the tag.....West side Blacktail wide open... East side Whitetail.... fairly easy... Eastside Mule Deer... limited seasons in very diverse areas and not so easy to find.

Many of the species you have to apply for special tags for.. but Deer and elk.. fairly easy to get... just restrictive hunt areas and a single deer limit per year.

Then you have my favorite group of all( hence comment about being good enough ) ROAD HUNTERS.....idiots who cruise up and down the logging roads glassing clear cuts or hoping for a stray animal to cross the road in front of them. In other words.. lazy drunks who go "hunting" to get away from the family duties and spend times with their buddies getting drunk.

................................

My kids grew up eating venison and other wild game. I remember once when my daughter quit eating a beef hamburger because it tasted funny, she was used to the wild stuff.

Today she lives in a million dollar house in Jackson Hole. She can afford beef, but she still has her Daddy bring some venison when he comes to visit.

The deer here are alfalfa, grain, and corn fed. Really great food....Steve1

Wasnt me John... I love venison..... mmmmm

AND I am willing to get it for myself.... unlike the buttstains I know who want me to GIVE them some but are not willing to do the work involved.

They do not get the fact that some serious work starts just after you pull the trigger.
