Maybe, but never underestimate the power that alcohol have over some people and their judgement. It makes people do stupid things."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
dorbie 0 #3 January 20, 2007 Huh? come on that's friking lame. The guy must have been sober SOME of the time, and he didn't do this for the booze right. Look, he made a choice, alcohol does not make you get up in the morning and accept bribes and backroom deals for gifts from lobbyists. Just what mechanism are you suggeting was in action here? This guy is a scumbag and "the alcohol made me do it" line is just a fig leaf to help him. But fine, if he was a boozing alcoholic while in office how about we tack on another year or two for being wasted in charge of a country! Sheesh, talk about ready to swallow any excuse. Where was his shame BEFORE he was caught? Where was his inner voice when he was taking bribes for votes? This guy is the epitome of the WORST of what's wrong with government and he gets 2 years and folks are repeating his lame excuse. If you robbed a lemonade stand you might get a longer sentence than this corrupt bastard. He needs no excuses made for him, he made out like a bandit. And he STILL retires with his pension. And he gets to spend his (minimal) time in Club Fed. Golf, tennis and all the amenities while the poor sot on the streets gets life for a 3 strike misd. Hopefully he'll have a Ken Lay attackI hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all.
