Richards 0 #1 January 11, 2007 I recall a few years ago this "Do Not Call" list for telemarketters was quite the big issue in the US and I was curious how that turned out. 1: Do you use it? 2: Has it been helpfull or have they found ways to get around it? 3: Would you suggest any amendments? 4: Would you recommend that people in other countries push thier politicians to adopt a similar law? Just curious. I am in a pissy mood because my phone rings off the fucking hook all the time and I just got another right now. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.

I still get a few calls, but they are from sources that are not barred (like charities).... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one. nathaniel 0 #3 January 11, 2007 Yeah it did well. About all that's left is non-profits, and as a group they seem a lot less aggressive with random calling. There's a few I've heard of that will harangue you if you ever give them money. For advice if you have any cellular coverage in your area consider ditching your land line. I gather most telemarketers tend not to call cellphones as a matter of principle, due to the way the billing works. My advice is to do what your parents did; get a job, sir. The bums will always lose. The list should apply to charities and political organizations too. Quote 4: Would you recommend that people in other countries push thier politicians to adopt a similar law? Definately. I don't understand why we didn't latch on to that "do not call" idea up here. QuoteREMINDER ....8 days from today, all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sale calls. ....YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone: 888-382-1222 . It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time. It blocks your number for five (5) years. You must call from the cell phone number you are wanting to have blocked . You cannot call from a different phone number. HELP OTHERS BY PASSING THIS ON TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS OR GO TO: http://www.donotcall.gov/
Gawain 0 #10 January 11, 2007 Quote Thats over in 8 days. It was my understanding that the wireless companies abandoned the public cellular directory idea. Am I wrong? The unsolicited calls I get are now limited to charities and companies I have established business with (cell phone company wants me to upgrade my phone, etc...). Quote3: Would you suggest any amendments? Not at this time. Quote4: Would you recommend that people in other countries push thier politicians to adopt a similar law? If telemarketing calls bug them that much then yeah sure. QuoteJust curious. I am in a pissy mood because my phone rings off the fucking hook all the time and I just got another right now. I know how you feel, but I generally don't answer the phone unless I'm expecting a call or it's at an unusual time (i.e., late at night). -- Head-- Turn off the internet!
