billvon 3,132 #5 January 5, 2007 Well, it's a sin if done by either one. But once they're dead, it's kind of a pointless issue.
skycop 0 #6 January 6, 2007 No. You see it as something that simple and draw a conclusion, what a suprise. Prescription drug abuse happens to all segments of society, Republican, Democrat, rich, poor etc. Anyone with sense could see that, it's some on here making it an issue, and by the way HE'S DEAD. I think it is bad for either...But that's the difference between some folks. I hold all to the same standards, some have a sliding standard based on what party they claim to be from. Amazon 7 #11 January 6, 2007 QuoteYou see it as something that simple and draw a conclusion, what a suprise. I based my observation on SOOOO many posts on here from the right wing posters.. seeking to demonize any minutia perception of how evil Democrats are.. yet many of you will defend nearly ANYTHING that one of your beloved holier than thow RePUBICans do.....usually going back into history to find one of the demonized Democrats that did something similar... Guess what.. its a brave new world.. where I and other expect a bit more of our politicians or we are going to SACK them.

I'm not being a wise-@ss here, but I can't recall any similar instances where a democratic politician admitted to drug use/addiction, sought treatment, and/or tried to suppress the matter amongst his peers. So, give me an example from your observations. I can tell you that in other "ethical" areas of indiscretion, the right-of-aisle folks get crucified compared to those on the left (especially in the press). So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! AS far as the right wingers getting crucified.. I am all for it.. since I abhor fucking holier than thou hypocrites who attend churh weekly and hold them selves out to be the moral compass of our country only to show that they are even far worse than the sinners they purport to be better than. I'll grant you that. However, you don't see a difference between driving under the influence and the fact that it is a pattern of behavior with that family? Live by the moral holier than thou...then die politically by the moral holier than thou crowd when they find out how much of a scumbag he has been. Oh, certainly. Reap what you sow, and I agree. However, Rehnquist wasn't a politician. He was a judge, and he did his job (regardless of whether you agree with his decisions, or viewpoints -- despite being dogmatically right-wing). QuoteKinda like Lush Rimjob and his drug abuse.. villifying drug users for years.....or his public homophobia while in private having had numerous homosexual incidents over the years. Here again, Rush reaped what he sowed. I have no idea what you're talking about regarding his sexual behavior. Just because Norm Woodruff bought him some cloths doesn't mean they went to bed. And again he isn't a politician either, he's an entertainer. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! Jefferson just got caught sending donation requests to other Congress members on official letterhead (another no-no)... oops!! Right, but have they been outright cut to pieces? No, if Senator Lott did a similar land deal like Senator Reid, there would be an investigation up and down. So, I'm guessing you're vindicating my point.......right? mnealtx 0 #17 January 6, 2007 Yeah, for some odd reason, these things are only problems when it's a Republican doing them... like the comparison between Lott and Reid... or between Teddy Kennedy and Laura Bush. Democrat? No problem.... Republican? BIG problem... Of course the "carefully neutral" MSM has nothing at all do to with that... Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. willard 0 #18 January 6, 2007 Drug abuse and dependency among politicians goes back as far as you care to track it. The Greeks and Romans had problems. U.S.Grant was an alcoholic. Jack Kennedy was addicted to pain killers and other prescription drugs. The problem knows no party lines. I don't like the idea of people making important decisions on our behalf being strung out like they were still at Woodstock, but I haven't a clue as to what we can do to prevent it that hasn't been tried.
