QuoteIf you had the first idea of what you are talkinng about you would know that 'gunpowder/Blackpowder' firearms including handguns are legal in the UK.
QuoteThe only handguns to escape the ban were:
* Antique and Muzzle-loading black powder guns
* Guns of historic interest whose ammunition is no longer available ('Section 7.1' weapons)
* Guns of historic interest with current calibres ('Section 7.3' weapons)
* Guns which fall outside the Home Office definition of "Handguns" (e.g. NSRA "Long Arms", and Long-Barreled Handguns both Small- and Full-bore), where their dimensions - usually barrel length, but also overall firearm length, rules them out of the Home Office definitions, so for legal purposes, they are treated as Rifles.
Guns of historic interest are ones typically manufactured before 1919. Since Section 7.3 historic weapons use currently available ammunition, they must be kept at a secure designated site such as the Bisley camp.
Ouch... and I thought Cali was bad!

QuoteAnd rimfire weapons including semi automatic rifles. Shotguns are also legal as are bolt action rifles of any calibre or non semi automatic rifles.
Then, why are the Olympic shooting teams having to leave country to practice? Is there something I'm missing on?

They clearly think that Scotland is under the same laws as England & Wales: Incorrect
...and somehow the topic has diverted from air weapons to live firing handguns (as every thread remotely to do with weapons, violence seems to)

QuoteClearly. Its only the pistol teams that are forced to train abroad, however there is a move to allow them an exemption.
Aren't the pistol events 22 rimfire, or am I mistaken? It seems odd that they'd allow the other eventers to practice, but not the pistol team.

It's not clear that it was the pellet gun that killed him. He could have been already dead when some kid wandered by and shot him with a pellet gun.
Would a single incident of an object being used to commit murder, serve as sufficient justification to ban and confiscate such objects nationwide, in your mind?
Only if that item's name was
