Mormon Question

I was invited to dinner at the home of one of my professors, a Mormon.

Usually when invited to dinner, I would bring a bottle of red wine and a bottle of white, just to be sure a compatible wine was there. I know better than to bring booze to such a family's house.

What should I bring?

Or maybe a nice dessert, as was already suggested. Just not chocolate. Chocolate has caffeine. Caffeine is often considered one of the things to avoid by Mormons.

Flowers is the acceptable gift for the woman of the Mormon household. Found this out during a five-year stint living and working out of Salt Lake City, Utah.
Early on after moving to SLC, my landlord invited me to Thanksgiving dinner with his family, so I took a bottle of wine ... duh!
They weren't upset and even offerred to open it for me, but they did offer to "set me up" with available women from their church.

Best dump I ever took was at SLC. I sat down thinking about that cool custom of having multiple wives. Then I started thinking about the high cost of Christmas, birthdays, and bitching. It wasn't long before I had my best dump and quickly removed those thoughts from my mind.

There are still fundimentalist sects that attempt to practice this, although due to current laws they are "forced" underground.

Just like any religion, the fundi sects tend to fuel the fire for stereotypes and odd stories.

Whilst the 'official' hierarchy of the LDS no longer talks about polygamy it does remain one of the most important tenets of Mormonism as laid down by Joseph Smith. As such it is still surprisingly widespread - especially in exclusively Mormon townships where it can be very hard the 'brides' to escape.
