ExAFO 0 #1 December 19, 2006 Fundamentalism really fucks with the sex drive... While I love reading about religious hypocrites, this seems rather odd--he had consentual sex...what's the problem? Some bible-thumpers are really messed up when it comes to sex...Illinois needs a CCW Law. NOW.
Butters 0 #2 December 19, 2006 QuoteIn a statement released Monday evening, New Life said Beard had “displayed poor judgement in several decisions throughout his tenure. This poor judgement included one instance of consensual sexual contact with another unmarried adult several years ago.” So much for forgiveness."That looks dangerous." lawrocket 3 #7 December 19, 2006 I've said it before and I'll repeat it - As a general rule, self-anointed "leaders" speak out against that which they are doing themselves for two purposes: 1) Deflect attention from them; and/or 2) to assuage their personal guilt because they believe nobody should get away with what they are doing. Hence, Bible-thumpers have sex scandals and generally make for a large number of internet porn addicts, sex addicts, etc. They don't want people to suspect them, and they think and feel that what they are doing is morally wrong, so they speak against it and try to ban it. It's also the reason why stereotypical liberal leaders speak out and take stands against things that they do. I.e., they say that the rich are all cheats because they are wealthy and they know that they were dirty in getting their money. Or, they will speak out against group oppression so that they can continue to oppress those groups in their own way. What better way for a prison guard to make prisoners like him than by hating on the warden, guards and the criminal justice system in general to the prisoners, meanwhile keeping them caged? While he's at it, he can supply shanks to rival prison gangs and arrange that they be in the yard at the same time, all to let either side get even. The environmentalist in the mountains actually doesn't want anyone else building where he/she is. The list goes on... My wife is hotter than your wife. I think there's a deeper reason. To some religious types that have gay affairs, homosexuality really IS an evil, vile thing that must be destroyed. Heck, look at how it destroyed Haggard's life! To them, if you could "legislate away" homosexuality, they would not be tempted, and their lives would be that much better/easier. Of course, they caused themselves the problem, and needless to say this would have been no issue at all if they had chosen a path in life where they could accept their own sexuality. But not everyone thinks that way. They want to be church leaders and be delivered from temptation - through new laws if possible.
