I just want to open up some interaction on this topic to see what flows.

According to a skydiver that became christian and quit skydiving....
"Jesus wouldn't want you to take risks for pleasure"

I'd simply ask him, "Where did you get that info? Chapter and verse."

interpretation breakdown?
(from a JW concept)

God is the source of all life. All living things owe their life to God.?
True christians are safety conscious. God's servants do not take unnecessary risks with their lives just for pleasure or excitement.?
They also do not share in violent sports, they avoid entertainment that encourages violence?

He is also exceedingly modest! We bow down before your HALO knowledge.

(Btw, the last guy that made a habit of referring to himself in the third person was Gaius Julius Caesar, you think you can fill those sandals?:P)
Do you want to have an ideagasm?

I understand the dogma, I want to know why or what they interpret to get that dogma.

Hey, I do not understand the dogma- or know why or what they interpret to get that dogma.
All I know is this person quit skydiving - due to his respect for life. To each their own-
interpretation of the bible (jw's have their own) varies everywhere.

Lesson 12
Respect for life and blood. To please God, we must avoid blood transfusions, unclean habits, and unnecessary risks.

There are people who do nothing but freefly at our DZ. I don't feel alienated from them.

There are often large groups of people stretching in the morning (the 8-way teams.) They don't alienate other people.

There's an amputees-only 'team' (pieces of eight) who jump at Perris a lot. I don't feel alienated from them, even though I'm not missing any large body parts.

Me thinks you are playing devil´s advocate here. Surely you realize that all of your examples are more or less skidiving related. If we were in a church i could see how there could be a group who pray to Jesus and another who pray to the Virgin Mary (although somehow i think that would shed some blood).
I group of people praying in the DZ makes as much sense to me as a subgroup in the church only with people who besides being Christian skydive.

We do it all the time. Moxie was an all-women's 8 way team last year at Perris; did really well. So was Passion-8. There was a Rainbow Boogie last year that attracted a lot of people, both straight and gay. I don't think any of those things are bad or alienating.

As i said before subgroups related to the main group are normal and to be expected, like when in martial arts they broke down all the participants in a championship in gender and weight categories. However i don´t get why anyone would think than a boogie that atracts straight people and gay people would be bad. IMO it would be bad if it was a straight only boogie or if the gays expected the straights to convert or somehow separate themselves from the heterosexuals.

Alienated? No. Grossed out? Based on what most skydivers look like, yes!

Well maybe you have a better word than alienated, that is what happens when English is not your first language and everybody insist in discuss semantics with you.
My opinion is that there is some topics that are sensitive enough or polemic enough to be left alone in public or practiced at home, and religion is one of them. It is polemic enough that few to none people will be in the middle for either you believe or you dont, and people tend to get very vocal about it.. It is a sort of "with us or against us" topic and hence my use of the word "alienate"
Religious people have filled their lifes with religion so much that they may not conceive a life void of Jesus, but there is. Myself as an example, prefer not to be around people who have a record of judging other people believes and pity those who do not believe in the same things than them. I will not be the one who complains to the DZO, and i will leave them alone, however i do not aprove, and that is called tolerance. I do not aprove but it will not be me who does anything to stop them. I would have liked for them to show that much tolerance with janet jackson´s breast and with muslims praying in airports terminals. Long Life to hipocrisy.

I was on an SF HALO team for 15 years. That doesn't mean much with regard to sport skydiving. Completely different. Definitely doesn't mean anything as far as flying ability goes. Most HALO guys can't fly for shit. They can, however, fall flat and stable with 90-100lbs of equip. strapped to them (in the dark at very high altitude in groups). What did you do once you were on the ground? What was your specialty? I was just curious b/c you're referring to yourself in the 3rd person. Must have been somethinig special.
