todays young men and women in uniform are doing a great job ,in a cold, hot, dusty, wet stinking hell hole to defend all of us ,so us old farts do not have to worry about the Muslim extremists bring there hate to our town.
this a a war not of our choosing .they came over here on 9/11
weather you agree with the war or not do NOT diss those that stepped up to the plate to defend us.
I understand Dan's being upset and hurt by some foolish comments.
seams funny I never hear anyone dissing the troops
but see lots of folks showing respect for there sacrifice.

Why do they call him "The Ice man" when he sweats like a pig in the interviews? (Or is that him melting?

My money is on Massa in the Ferrari camp for next year. Kimi is fast, but he's a one trick pony. (And as we all know, you need LOTS of ponies in F!!)

Or one might venture to say that they understand better than most, the tenants they are fighting for having offered themselves up to personally assure those rights.
Hate the game, not the player...especially if you're just watching from the stands.
If they're fighting for the tenants, who's fighting for the landlords?...

So we get two battles for the (very large) price of one. Or something like that.

Really? Which Muslim Extremists in Iraq were such a problem that you had to invade the country? Bush and the American government created the mess in Iraq. If you want to blame somebody, you really should start with your POTUS.
I would suggest leaving most major US news agencies alone for a while and try something a bit more fact based.

You may be right, he did improve a heck of a lot during last season. I think that'll be the only real battle for the championship though.
Renault will crash and burn with Fisi as their No1 driver and McLaren surely can't produce a good enough car from nowhere?

I've been called a lot of things in my life, but being a coward has not one of them, until now.. In retrospect, some prudence on my part would not have gone amiss, but I said it, so I'll stand by it, and look out for the givers of the fat lip when next I visit your country.
I know many South Africans who recall being in Angola in 1976 and having the US withdraw their support for that operation and being compromised as a result. They were the people who trained me.
I'm familiar with being a soldier at the beck and call of a bellicose government, but I was drafted. I never volunteered.
I'm sorry my post upset you as much as it did. I am tired of the US's seemingly endless involvement in world affairs, and those who know me on this site are well aware of that. I've spent time on DZ's in the US since joining this site. Those soldiers I've met have skydived with me, because I actually go to DZ's to skydive, not to talk politics.
You and I are from different countries. We have different views. We have different governments, and we have fought for different armed forces against different enemies. It's only logical that we would have differing opinions.

Same for Iraq. We are losing a war and our troops have been risking their lives for nothing. Painful to hear but true.
As for the uneducated who still even after all the facts think Iraq had anything to do with 9-11 or any terrorist attack on Americans before the invasion. I say learn to read.
As for Tontos comment. I agree that it is not our troops fault that we are losing the war in Iraq, and to blame them is just silly. They are risking their lives every day and fighting because they took an oath and volunteered to fight for the United States. They can not be blamed for the false information, and poor planing.
Lets bring them home.
Our enemies cannot defeat our military, so they go for the easy victory over our politicians.

QuoteI don’t know if that’s a cheep shot. Katharina was a disaster on every aspect. Just because we don’t want to hear it doesn’t make it not true.
I'm not arguing that point. It was painful to see it unfold, and it was definately no proud moment. But I feel his shot and skyrad's response (LOL!) were in very poor taste, and have nothing to do with the original intent of this thread. Tonto redeemed himself somewhat over the comment about our military not fighting the war very well, only to throw himself back into it with another pot shot.
Serves no purpose but to be mean and inflammatory.
Of course, I guess that's the point here in SC.

Yeah. It's like tennis. One person hits, the other tries to return. As long as we keep it within the confines of the court, it's just a game.
None of us have any control over hurricanes, or wars or the outcome of next years Formula 1 season. To quote Crocodile Dundee, "We're like fleas arguing about who owns the dog we live on."
Smile. It really isn't that bad. I have a lot of respect for most of the people I argue with in this forum, mainly because they have a committed point of view and are not fence sitters. The others, I probably just don't understand.

As for those still fighting to make your country great, they're not fighting very well. The US had managed to finish WW2 within 3 years, but has not even managed to contain the war in Iraq in more than the same timeframe. What's up with that?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Actually, I am sure that if we fought this war like WWII, we could have won the war in less time than WWII. However, changing values have made that a less viable option.
Sure, once we established air superiority, we could have sent in some B-52s and carpet bombed Baghdad, as we did to the Germans in Dresden. We could firebomb Tikrit, a la Tokyo. Hell, we've got a lot more nukes we could have used, but people got offended at the "glass parking lot" option when it was raised.
Why not blow up dams, power plants, etc? Take flamethrowers to occupied buildings that need to be cleared? We could martyr the whole lot of them with only a few pressings of buttons.
While we could, we won't. Our theories and practices have changed.

QuoteDon't forget to add political leaders who are hand wringing sissies.
Our enemies cannot defeat our military, so they go for the easy victory over our politicians.
Military force is useful for some things, but not all things.
Military force is not a substitute for good foreign policy.
Our military IS being defeated in Iraq, whether or not you wish to admit it. And that defeat is clearly perceived by other nations who may not wish us well, such as Iran and N. Korea. We have far less leverage now than we had in 2002.
Is that the fault of the grunts on the ground? Absolutely not. They have been put into a no-win situation by their lying incompetent CinC.

"Less viable"? It's not an option at all. The problem with Bush's foreign and military policy (as far as any actual policy can be discerned) is that it is mired in the 1940s mentality.

I cant respect anyone in this administration.. there are thousands of our servicemen who's lives have been wasted because of the incompetence and lies....I think our military deserves more respect than to waste lives in the wrong place.. at the wrong time.. in the wrong war.
