To an atheist it might be an excuse to go to parties, or to drink heavily, or to go on a scuba diving trip. We may force all government offices to observe it, but we don't force people to observe it. (That's a good thing!) In the US, atheists don't get to tell you you can't put up a christmas tree in your front yard and celebrate it however you want.
