Yeah, right! Here I am!:D Does Viet Nam, ring a bell? Those folks in Iraq have been feuding since time began and noone is going to change them because they don't want to change. It's just our politicians in this country trying to control the rest of the world. If, they'd put as much effort into the U.S.A, they might get somewhere. I still think, it's all about the oil!

Blair agrees war 'not being won'

The report is expected to recommend a phased withdrawal
Tony Blair has agreed with the incoming US defence secretary's assessment that the war in Iraq is not being won.
Asked by Tory leader David Cameron if he agreed with Robert Gates' assessment of the war, Mr Blair said: "Of course."

He added, at prime minister's questions in the Commons: "What's important however is that we go on to succeed in the mission we set ourselves."

Well, theres definatly no WMDs I guess we can declare victory now and fuck off safe in the knowledge that the world is a safer place....Errrm:(

Because that would appear to be a purely charitable act and we dont do them.... We wouldn't spend Billions of £/$ and countless lives... just to stabalise a country (that was stable before we fucked it up anyway!)... I dont buy it.

>Why use this rhetoric anyway?

Because it garners support for the war. If you can portray it as a choice between winning or losing - which would you vote for? If it's portrayed as an attempt to stabilize a tottering government that will require tens of billions a year (and thousands of US lives) for the forseeable future - well, that's harder to get support for.

Bush and Blair would use deceptive tactics to win popular support for a war? :o

Say it ain't so, Bill.

Besides, how else are the 'bought-off' politicians going to maintain the lifestyle to which they've become accustomed by taking pay-offs from the makers of weapons and tanks without a dumb-ass war? So what if thousands of soldiers lives are lost.[:/] Crap!
