I know what you mean. We will always slip up here and there. I was referring to the 10 commandments and how we all broke at least one of them. Therefore, we can never live a life good enough to merit us into heaven. Living a good life as far as being true to yourself, being good to others, being a giving person, never screwing people over, being an honest person is not impossible. There are probably millions of people that live that kind of life. In this earthly world, that's being a good person and living a good life. Christian or not, I love being surrounded by people that possess at least one of those above mentioned qualities. However, in the eyes of God, without being redeemed by Christ you can never be good enough or live a good enough life to get into heaven.

What's the most you ever lost in a coin toss, Friendo?

I knew no one would get it unless they did it. I was bored as hell trying describe the indescribable. I only talked about it when someone asked. Of course then I was happy to gush with excitement.

It was the same with me in both situations. I took a video of this year's Hog Flop Boogie to some friends at Thanksgiving. Only one seven yr. old boy sat and watched it with me. The rest of the people were just ho-hum about it. At the point, I decided never to bother them again about it.
When I got saved in'83, I told everyone, especially my family. My Dad is agnostic, at best, and the rest of the family are hardcore Catholic. Eventually, they told me to just shutup, so I did.

But your and Pajarito's explanations differ, from what I gather.

In his explanation, it's about saving others. Not sharing the wonder. His seems to be about a warning.

We, as Christians, do not save anyone. We can only tell someone about Christ and the salvation the He has provided for us.

I donot disagree with him. The structure of the Bible points to the fact that the Law of Moses was given to the people before the Savior was given to them.

I find it quite common amongst the people in this forum. I'm a good guy, I've never killed anyone, I try to help those in need. In other words, if there is a God, and he sent a Savior, He wasted his time on them because they're good enough.

Until you come to the personal knowledge that you are a lawbreaker at heart, you will have no need for someone or something to change your very being.

This is the purpose of the Law.

On an aside, I find it strange that the practioners of Judaism, although they deny Christ, find no need for the sacrificial requirements of the Old Testament.

Within the Body of Christ [the true church, those who are saved] people are given different ministries by God. I find that this tends to be based on a person's personality. Some are quiet and gentle, some are forceful and outgoing, some are encouragers, and others can work without someone telling what the next move is.

Until you come to the personal knowledge that you are a lawbreaker at heart, you will have no need for someone or something to change your very being.

This is the purpose of the Law.

Quote

“‘I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived’ (Romans 7:9). So it is with the work-righteous and the proud unbelievers. Because they do not know the Law of God, which is directed against them, it is impossible for them to know their sin. Therefore also they are not amenable to instruction. If they would know the Law, they would also know their sin; and sin to which they are now dead would become alive in them.”

--Martin Luther
