So the UK is going to renew its nuclear arsenal at a cost of up to 20 Billion Pounds. Should the UK renew their arsenal or should we scrap it?

I think we (the UK), should launch all our existing nukes at strategic targets.
The republic of ireland, Vietnam, the Bermuda triangle, Sweden, the Falkland Islands etc
Basically a bunch of random targets just to really frighten people.
By the time we are done nobody would dream of fucking with us...we will have no nukes to maintain and no need to replace them through fear.

EDIT: Actually im really undecided on this. Do they act as any form of deterrant really? Certainly they wont ever stop suicide bombers doing their thing.
With warfare as it is at the moment there isnt any particular target to bomb anyway.

Certainly we cant afford them..or at least the colossal cost should be invested in the NHS / Schools / just about anywhere else!

However, the thought of countries like..well, specifically Iran and North Korea having Nukes worries me. Their respective current leaders are maniacs (ok ours isn't to sane either), but I get the feeling either of them would push the button given the chance.

So maybe if i had to make the choice I'd go with new nukes but less of them. Bet I get hammered for this one.

Call me old fashioned but I just don't trust the Russians.... Old habits die hard I guess. I thiink we should renew but reduce. As for the NHS, the last thing it needs is more money thrown at it so we can have more administrators, middle management and paper pushers. Not to mention bizare and inappropriate treatments available on the NHS whilst esential treatments are witheld on the say so of the clowns at NICE. What the NHS needs is a bloody good cull of the waste of space staff as mentioned above and a streamlining and reapraisal of available treatments to bring it back more closely to the founding principles.

True, but even if a terrorist was to detonate a Nuke on UK soil it still wouldn't be the Government of Pakistan that did it even if the terrorist came from there. Apart from anything else I'm pretty certain that plans exist to keep Pakistans Nukes out of the hands of any extremist government that could be elected into power, and I'd put money on it that that plan doesn't involved the UK Nuking Pakistan.

I wasn't refering specifically refering to Pakistan, just referencing a general concept that you don't seem to understand as per your previous post. Allies is a marriage of convience, once the convience or motivations have changed, then so does the alliance; however, that is not always known to both parties until the other party has launched an operation.
