Hire three people per station to review the images, and watermark em. If any get out, fire all three. I swear, we're uptight in this country. Security people thinking "Oooohhh, BOOBIES!" is actually a reason we might not use this technology? Cause hijackings are annoying and all, but god forbid someone sees you naked! Don't these people ever use locker rooms?

Someone who sees the glass as half full. I agree, I want to go through the checkpoint and have the screeners be amused and nervous and thinking "just what the heck was that?" ... Don't these people ever use locker rooms? given the number of security guards getting off on video feeds, I have an easier time seeing the problem than you. I'm having a harder time seeing the gains afforded by this peepshow too. If metal detectors and x rays can't detect guns that passengers mistakenly bring (and therefore don't even try to hide), what's this toy going to do. Botellines 0 #9 December 4, 2006 I will go for a whole month and any possible watermark removed with photoshop. Anyway, how dangerous that machine will be? X-Ray is suppose to be an ionizing (spelling?) energy and not too god for your health as it can break down DNA and provoke tumors, etc. The ocasional X-ray is okay as the ocasional PET (radioactive) but i wonder how the frecuent fliers will feel about it. If a security screener gets off on high heels, and he really gets off when women take them off, and his job is to monitor a video camera showing a security checkpoint - who cares? > If metal detectors and x rays can't detect guns that passengers > mistakenly bring (and therefore don't even try to hide), what's this > toy going to do. Skyrad 0 #11 December 4, 2006 The radiation it exposes you to would be about the same as sitting in six foot front of your TV for three hours. We have these machine at UK airports I have been through them a few times as I will happily volunteer to go through it and jump the stupidly long que for a semi strip search. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. billvon 3,095 #12 December 4, 2006 >The radiation it exposes you to would be about the same as >sitting in six foot front of your TV for three hours. Literally true, but very misleading. If you go into the core of a nuclear reactor, and get really close to the fuel elements, you'll get about the same amount of radiation as you will get lying in the sun. (1000 w/m^2.) But sunlight is mostly non-ionizing radiation; at most you'll get a burn from the far-UV after a few hours. The ionizing radiation in the reactor core will kill you very quickly. If you wanted to get the same amount of radiation and have it be perfectly safe, you could aim a bank of stage lights at yourself. You might get warm, but there'd be no ionizing radiation whatsoever. In terms of backscatter technology, it depends on the frequency. Millimeter-wave technology is nonionizing; X-ray technology is ionizing. X-rays give you greater visibility into an object and potentially higher resolution. They are about as dangerous as sunlight in terms of dosage.
