Lucky... 0 #1 November 23, 2006 http://www.lasvegasvegas.com/2006/11/its_okay_again_to_feed_the_hom.php In July, a controversial city ordinance passed that prohibited feeding the homeless. The law, which specifically spelled out it's illegal to feed any of the 12,000 "indigent" in Las Vegas, did not apply to the Strip and focused on parks and public spaces. Locals increasingly complained about the number of homeless people that hung around parks because of groups handing out meals. The feeding fines were up to $1,000 and/or a jail sentence of up to six months. Not to mention a misdemeanor. But how exactly does one define an indigent person? Does feeding a child (who has no job) or unemployed person in a park break the law? With several cases pending and judges already throwing out misdemeanor charges, earlier today a federal judge ruled against the unconstitutionally vague law. So it's now legal to feed the homeless in parks... at least until our lawmakers go back and define what exactly they mean. Posted by R.C. I think he meant ruled against the Constitutionality of the law, or ruled the lawe unconstitutional.
