I don't have an issue with someone that's on welfare that is using it in the way it was intended - a means to help a person until they can get on their feet. I have an issue with someone that's on welfare and refuses to do anything about getting off of it. That is my feelings. Welfare has its purpose, but too many abuse it. it needs a MAJOR overhaul. You have a problem with the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996, passed by a Republican Congress under the guiding hand of Newt Gingrich??... To throw this thread off on a tangent. I was hurt (pretty good in a skydiving accident yrs ago) I went and applied for Food Stamps. Asked for one mths. worth til I could get some money rolling in. Mind you I was pretty fucked up. Single white man. Take a hike. Forget about it. But my insurance did take care of all my medical bills.I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all.
