NWFlyer 2 #26 November 14, 2006 QuoteBut, as it stands right now, Pilots, crew and "Elite" passengers" get a pass - special lane, no extra checks, etc. Not true. Airline crew do get to skip ahead in the security line, and I can't comment on the likelihood (or lack thereof) of them getting screened. I would imagine that the combination of uniform and ID badge would make it less likely for them to get intense scrutiny, but I honestly don't know for sure. Maybe I'll ask a crew member on my next flight. However, I am an "elite" traveler with the airlines and the only thing it buys me is the ability to get to the front of the security line (or into a much shorter line). Once I'm into the screening pool, I am not treated any differently (in fact, at most airports, those doing the screening have no idea what line I've come from). I have been singled out for extra screening (especially when I'm traveling with my rig, but that's another issue altogether)."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke

Cloudburst 0 #28 November 14, 2006 a soldier is just a human being, same as the other passengers.... search him like you would anybody else not everybody hero worships soldiers, like the average american appears to on this site
BIGUN 1,488 #29 November 15, 2006 We don't hero worship soldiers. There are average Americans who voluntarily choose to put on a uniform and perform their duties up to and including dying whether they agree with the administration or not. We as fellow Americans respect them for that.Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
Skyrad 0 #30 November 15, 2006 If Soldiers didn't wear uniform when they're off duty or in transit there wouldn't be a problem and they and their families would also be alot safer. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. usedtajump 1 #31 November 15, 2006 Might as well wear uniforms. 90 or so guys in civilian clothes with the same high and tight haircuts sitting together with the same issue backpack in a boarding area isn't obvious is it?The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
