Did you hear a good percentage of them think the world is flat, too? W/O reading the article, just skimming, this is the short-earth theory. They say that either dinosaurs were a conspiracy by the seculars to fool the all-knowing Christians, or that the dating process is wrong. It fucks up the Christian model if we say 65M years, so they abreviate it to <10k. Actually, scientists say 3-4B years.

TheAnvil 0 #4 November 12, 2006 Ganz im gegenteil, mein Herr. I'd wager the political break-down of intellect in the US is about evenly split. The US education system is in horrendous shape, with neither party having the will to take the necessary steps to fix it. THe left is beholden to the NEA - the NEA itself being a major part of the problem - and the right does not want to spend the $$ or the political capital to stand up the the NEA because education is not an issue that gets people fired up enough to migrate to the polls en masse on election day. How does that supposed "fact" explain the observed demographic breakdown?... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one. billvon 3,120 #7 November 12, 2006 If the NEA is indeed a problem with people understanding evolution, and the democrats are "beholden" to them - you would expect that democrats would believe in creationism over evolution more often than republicans. However, the opposite is true. So I think there may be a hole in your theory.
Amazon 7 #8 November 12, 2006 The NEA supports democratic candidates....as do many unions... especially after Regan and his union busting. Support for anything democratic is enough to demonize them.

I agree, it's like this, 'survival of the fittest' mentality with the Repubs, so evolution and natural selection would be the norm. Another anomoly is that true believers of Jebus should want to go be withhim, and altho the rules disallow suicide, living dangerously would be a way to meet the all mighty, so you would think they do that. But no, religious conservatives tend to be far more careful in their approach to life. The same can be said about athiests/agnostics, they believe this is all there is, but they often tend to be more reckless than their opposites. Total paradox.
