PhreeZone 20 #3 November 11, 2006 US Customs has recently taken to the act of randomly scanning and siezing laptops in search of similar materal. They recently caught a guy with tons of child porn on his laptop so they are hailing the program as a success. The issue comes in that the seizures do not have an appeal process, just like if they take a bottle of wine from you if you are coming from France they can take your laptop and you have no recourse to get it back. A warning was just sent out via an international travelers association that they are recommending all international travelers to make copies of all their hard drives in case US customs siezes their laptop they will not lose all their work. There have been documented cases where the laptop is still in the hands of customs 1 year after it was first taken. Just a word of warning if you are planning on international travel through US customs...Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

packerboy 3 #7 November 12, 2006 well shit then.. look at everyones laptop. Pull everyone over on the road too.. just to see if they are drunk. If they took my laptop as a random search, and I had important work information on it and they wouldn't give it back, well geez, I don't know exactly what I would do.. but there would be A LOT of people knowing that I wasn't happy about it. I'd probably get arrested. Fuckers.. I'm pissed off about it just sitting here, and I don't even own a laptop!!! packerboy 3 #10 November 12, 2006 I hate to say it but independant of the Iraq war, I foresee the U.S. being "at war" for a very very long time. I'm 30 and I'm willing to bet that the U.S. will be at war for at least 50% of my remaining life. So I guess you should get used to this stuff. I'm Canadian, but we usually end up having to get used to the same things you get used to. The most worrying thing here is the proving of intent. In this case it looks pretty open and shut due to the inclusion of the Muj poisons handbook and the Al Q manual. But how many of you have weapons manuals? Books of martial arts? Sniper manuals? There are ALOT of books out there legally on the market (I'm certain that quite a few of you own them) to do with various aspects of warfare.
