chigbee 0 #1 November 9, 2006 During the midst of a crazy NFL year and at the end of another nasty election cycle, I am really missing the writing of Hunter S. Thompson. No one can quite grab the crazy essence of living in this country quite like the Good Dr. Mahalo
freethefly 6 #2 November 9, 2006 I fully agree. The Doctor had a way with exposing the truth. His take on politics was well defined in Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail 72 or in Generation of Swine, Gonzo Papers Vol. 2: Tales of Shame and Degradation in the 80's. and in, of course, Gonzo Papers Vol. 1, The Great Shark Hunt. Can't help but to wonder what his take on todays political scene would be. Sure do miss his ESPN column, "Hey Rube". Without doubt, the greatest political writer ever."...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black."
