Why just tell the Israelis to cut the crap? Is only one side at fault? What do you mean by part II of the 9/11 commission report? I'm just condensing it down so we don't have to type Pelosi, Reid etc. everytime we refer to them. Which we will be doing quite a bit. -
crwtom 0 #33 November 8, 2006 Quote I'm now just saying that their majority in congress doesn't give the Dems the ability to do that anymore than they could before. It really was amazing the way that Howard Dean admitted they were powerless to make a change. That admission would not have helped his party win the election, there is no way he would have admitted that before, so that is why it is important. Well, obviously Dean was hoping for a two-third majority in both houses (which would have opened all doors) but got gravely disappointed by the current results that tied his hands. Quote If Bush sees the election as a message from the voters that he must change, then it will happen. GWB doesn't exactly have a track record of being a good listener. He needs constant reminders - - - such as 230+ house reps of the wrong color. livendive 8 #36 November 8, 2006 Interesting question. I really don't know the answer, but here's what I was wondering yesterday. Since Congress has not declared war in Iraq, but merely authorized the President to use force, would it be legal for them to pass legislation (assuming they had a veto-proof majority) withdrawing or restricting said authorization? I'm not saying that they should do that, just wondering if they could. Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

rehmwa 2 #40 November 8, 2006 Vinnie just "waxes poetic", but he has substance in the background when he's not just in mocking mode (frankly, he's your opposite, as far as I'm concerned - backs up statements with facts and history, mostly moderate but with an easily recognizable lean one way when pushed, a couple of 'pet' issues that are primarily emotive but at least understandable) - I recognize Vinnie's leanings, but I respect his delivery. And the tequila If you want to name names, here's the lineup on the left (It's the freaking Deland Groove of the forums in terms of shear talent) for shear blind unreasoning vitriol - ______ is an artist for shear mind numbing volume and partisanship - _____, hands down for clever drive by poking and hidden jabs - _______is a master (but fun to follow) plus we lately have 3 more in serious training. I'm surprised you didn't pick more obvious partisan types like ______, or _____________ on the right. But they don't hold a candle. It must be the IQ difference inherent. Even those right wingers that weren't 'stuck' in the military likely still can't keep up as well. I won't actually name names, because then you'd have to give me and yourself a warning. idrankwhat 0 #45 November 8, 2006 Quote My criticism won't contain the vitriol and hate that has come from the left the past few years. - I was going to let this sort of nonsense from you and NC slide but I just can't. "Hate, vitriol, bitchin, whinin', moanin'" blah blah blah, has been the RNC platform for at least the last 15 years! To even pretend otherwise is not only ludicrous but it insults the intelligence of anyone who reads it. When Gingrich and that bunch moved in to Congress even Republican leaders were voluntarily leaving Congress because of the level to which the discourse had been lowered. The near decade long personal assault on the Clintons and anyone who didn't toe the line, the demonization and willful misrepresentation of all things left of the arbitrary line... and then to have people try to insinuate that the R's somehow have been the poor victims of hatred and personal attacks?!?!?!? I can almost taste the bile! Part of me wants the same crap thrown right back at the R's so that they can taste their own medicine. Let's have the Dems hide all of the committee meetings, let 'em gavel out anything that the R's want to talk about, let 'em drop everything so that we can investigate Bush's travel, wardrobe and hair cut expenditures, etc. etc. And I'll bet that the R's are pretty damn happy that they didn't do away with the filibuster! Oooo....wow....if memory of the righteous right's take on a similar situation serves me, the Dems have a "mandate" so I guess that the "people have spoken" and the R's are "losers" and should "shut up and go home" because they were voted out so "tough luck, too bad, you don't get to set the agenda", our 51% means that we don't have to even acknowledge your 49%! Then the other part of me says "I'd like to think that our government is better than the most recent example". Time will tell but I honestly don't think it could get any worse. idrankwhat 0 #50 November 8, 2006 QuoteSo you acknowledge that campaign finance reform was a fraud, useless if not even resulting in a worse situation than before? Any reform that doesn't consider all forms of money going to any politicians as bribery is a fraud as far as I'm concerned Why just tell the Israelis to cut the crap? Is only one side at fault? No. But if they're going to steal land, practice pseudo-genocide, kidnap democratically elected government officials and commit war crimes then I personally don't want to pay for it or have it reflect negatively against my country. What do you mean by part II of the 9/11 commission report? Do we need to find out if it was all a conspiracy by Bush? Part two, how the White House dealt with the intelligence that they were given, was promised to us by the Republican leadership prior to the 2004 election. After the election was over, Pat Roberts refused to allow the committee to discuss it. He's tried to bury it. It's just one more example of how this congress abdicated its oversight responsibilities.
