Scoop 0 #1 November 2, 2006 I understand the need to be politically correct but why on an application form for a job where you have to be a British citizen is the box for White - British under the 'ethnic origin' section the very last option? 16th place down on the list? billvon 3,120 #2 November 2, 2006 >16th place down on the list? Cause most people are white, and the first or last in a list is easiest to find.
Scoop 0 #3 November 2, 2006 Surely being the majority option it should be up at the top, not hidden at the bottom. In fact its not even at the botom its on the next page on its own as if it was an after thought

Umm, could it be alphabetical? The thing that gets me is that there is one tick box for 'Black African' but one each for 'Indian,' 'Pakistani,' and 'Bangladeshi!' Why the fuck should we be so sensitive about their political problems? One tick box for the whole damn subcontinent I say!Do you want to have an ideagasm? Scoop 0 #9 November 2, 2006 The web forms I have seen the USA normally takes pride of place at the very top or even as a default selection. At least you don't have to look to see if you are listed as United Kingdom, England or Great Britain! Seems to be no standard
Butters 0 #10 November 2, 2006 I think the best option to remain (or become) politically correct would be ... STOP ASKING FOR PEOPLES F**KING ETHNICITY!"That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch
rehmwa 2 #11 November 2, 2006 Why even ask? So they have information to be racially or ethnically biased - by law. ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants
Butters 0 #12 November 2, 2006 We should just stop using education and resumes and instead everyone put their height, weight, hair color, eye color, skin color, sex, religion, .... and we will all gets jobs based on what they need to even everything out. In order to be unbiased we have to be biased by law. I love the lack of logic and reasoning in this world. "That looks dangerous." Scoop 0 #13 November 2, 2006 Yes, its very bizarre. Lots of police applicants got turned down for no other reason than being white, british, heterosexual males. Thankfully they have been suing the pants off the force in question and every claim has been paid out to my knowledge. Ont he subject of CVs, why do business ask you to send them to them only for them to ask you to fill out one of their own specific forms with exactly the same information on it anyway?
Butters 0 #14 November 2, 2006 Did you fill out the form? Not that form, this form. Before you can fill out this form you have to fill out that other form so that we have a record of who filled out this form. Have you filled out that other form so that I can give you this form instead of that form? Well, have you?"That looks dangerous." Scoop 0 #15 November 2, 2006 Haha. Its true. The best bit is you fill out a 'marketing survey' so they know what part of the community their recruitment campaign is getting positive response from, its perforated so you can send it seperatly and be anonymous but it furthur states you should leave it attached and please mark your name on it clearly

On British job application forms the ethnic bollox should usually be removed and filed away (for god knows what reason) before the rest of the form reaches those who are actually doing the hiring.Do you want to have an ideagasm?
