ROK 0 #1 November 2, 2006 I received my "ballot". Now, being in this sport just over a year, I can pretty much figure out which Regional Director to vote for. Unfortunately. I don't have much of a clue when it comes to the other slots. Any opinions out there to lead or sway us newer divers?

ROK 0 #4 November 2, 2006 QuoteYeah that's it! Rip up fellow skydivers on a public forum. So we just vote blindly from the story each has to tell? Perhaps make our choice based on who jumped last year, and who didn't? I hear complaints all the time about USPA. Which leadership will help make corrections? Do you care more about the sport, or pissing someone off?
steveorino 7 #5 November 2, 2006 Why don't you ask for PMs instead? I don't see it as an either/or option. But hey, if you like stirring the $hit, get used to the smell. steveOrino

Elections by nature are usually either/or.... I have no intention of "stirring the $hit". I'm asking for informed opinions. If I wanted PM's, I'd of asked for them, but that wouldn't help those who are wondering like I am. I find your responses interesting
PLFXpert 0 #8 November 2, 2006 My best advice would be to vote for the Regional Director, as you seem to have some knowledge regarding that, and leave the other slots blank.I wouldn't want to vote based on others' opinions. If it makes you feel any better I'm not new to the sport, but other than my first couple years I've never voted for the USPA elections. I don't feel I jump often enough to really have a good feel to make an informed decision.Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

What response would your question lead to, negative or positive? Instead of asking who would do the best job, you asked, Anyone that you would rather hammer nails through your toes, than see win? steveorino 7 #13 November 2, 2006 Its a free country (well ... ) Don't let me stop you exercising your rights. i was simply exercising mine. Go to Instructors forum and read the "Do you think this was a good idea" thread and read the bashing. Just seems wasteful to me, eh, but what do I know? steveOrino

rehmwa 2 #15 November 2, 2006 Our regional is Goz - he's a great guy and gives to the region and the adjacent regions and helped out at nats and works hard at USPA. My big gripe is the candidates rarely state what they intend to do (last time I saw 4 candidates actually lay out a platform). The rest just say how many jumps they have and that they want us to talk to them and they promise to listen. I want to see a list of goals. Some of my favorites: 1 - 6 month reserve pack cycle 2 - discount on yearly membership if I CHOOSE to not take the Parachutist magazine and eliminate that cost to produce - even just make it completely on line and eliminate the postage and hard production costs (won't someone save the trees?) 3 - better USPA website with more functionality to it. (Why can't membership be confirmed directly on line by any DZ rather than delayed via direct contact with HQ? etc) 4 - other stuff ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants
PLFXpert 0 #16 November 2, 2006 Excellent! I'm with you on the 6-month reserve pack cycle! And I'm not worried about a discount but Billy and I receive two Parachutists being that we're both members. We really only need one. I've never thought about calling and letting them know that until now, though. My membership is almost due for renewal anyways---I'll just attach a letter regarding. Sorry...now I've gone all thinking out loud on you.Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

rehmwa 2 #22 November 2, 2006 QuoteThis is how bandwagons get started! damn straight, how come USPA doesn't provide more bandwagons at boogies and comps? that and free healthcare Edit: Parachutist. Question, how much of my yearly membership is due to the cost of printing and issuing 12 copies of a magazine I don't read? Is it 20 bucks? If so, discount my yearly by $15, keep the other $5, and we all end up ahead. For that matter, we get 2 copies every month (wife skydives too). Why do I need 2? Reserve pack cycle, membership fees? find ways to reduce my cost and i'll be happier ...
