But someone, somewhere has to keep record of who votes for whom. It was only heresay, but seemed plausible. Obviously I didn't care enough to research it. I figured I'd find out if I ever received an absentee ballot with primary elections actually on it.Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. jlmiracle 7 #52 October 31, 2006 QuoteI would actually prefer if voters who know nothing about the candidates and/or issues in a certain election stay home. It doesn't do any good to pick candidates at random, and they might as well not waste their time. *** or they way YOU think they should vote? That's how that statement comes across to me and I find it really irratating that people get on their high horses and think that the "common" person doesn't have a clue what's going on and comments like this are made along with that was just wasting a vote. No vote should ever be considered wasted. If I take the time to go to polls, my vote counts regardless of who I vote for. judyBe kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle. I didn't vote for either of the others because I didn't like them. They didn't represent what was important to me. You bring up an interesting point--a third majority party and what its benefits would be/problems it might pose. I've often wondered that myself being that I don't fit neatly, not even close, into either major party. Of course I'm biased, but I think my newly invented third party would quickly become major & super-cool.Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. Who's a "common" person? Anyone who wants to vote for a candidate/issue SHOULD vote, regardless of what sort of horses they ride. People who have no clue who's running for what should stay home. It will save them time (and gas) and won't affect the election anyway. >No vote should ever be considered wasted. A vote made at random is a vote wasted. Your vote only counts if you use it to vote for someone who you think would be a good leader. Per my post above, I agree, if the candidate (assuming executive branch) is capable of being independent of her party. But I disagree, if the candidate can be counted on to basically fall in lockstep with her party's agenda. If that's the case, you might as well vote for the party. In the case of a legislator, as I said in my previous post, I've come to feel you're best served by voting for the party whose agenda best matches your own, even if you think the particular candidate is basically a dick. Just hold your nose and do it.
