Sure Fox is conceding, hell, the Republican candidates/incumbents have been this entire campaign season. You can tell by the way they run their ads that they are desperate. It is really funny to watch them squirm knowing the foreseeable results.

Andy9o8 2 #4 October 26, 2006 QuoteThe only poll that counts is the one on election day. Don't count your chickens too soon. Yeah. For example, yesterday the NJ Supreme Court handed down a ruling addressing the gay marriage issue generally (albeit ambiguously) favoring the gay rights/privileges side. I'd imagine the Repubs will try to revive that as a proven-traction wedge issue in the last week before the election. ("Family values! Protect your daughters!") Also agree w/your earlier post re: we've yet to see the Rove-esque ads that the Repubs will spend a small nation's GNP on in the final days. Definitely not counting my chickens yet. Andy9o8 2 #5 October 26, 2006 Fox"News" is evil and insidious. They know that only the kool-aid drinkers pay attention to them. They've cooked the poll to scare the "base", and thereby turn out the vote. It's reverse psychology, contrived by Dr. Evil.

wmw999 2,589 #7 October 26, 2006 QuoteLet the backlash begin!Even if the Democrats do pick up the House and/or the Senate, I sure as hell hope the backlash doesn't begin. The best possible way to get re-elected is to identify some issues that need working on, and have both parties work on them, and then fucking solve them. Pick a small one to start with, because, well, some of the big ones are too tainted and contentious. Trying to make sure that "your party's" solution is the best one, that that it could never be improved by the other party, is not the way to go. They can't rely on MoveOn to do it anymore, and they blew the wad of their wedge issues in the summer. Though to me, this is more the warmup election for 2008. Nancy Pelosi as Majority Leader could sink her party. i know she can play the role of Minority Leader where it doesn't really matter, but can she lead them to bigger gains? Not in that she couldn't "do the job" per se, but she has really burnt her bridges with a lot of the leadership in the Congress and Whitehouse. Additionally, her constituency is very very much on the left edge of the political spectrum, and they like her right where she is, she will find it difficult to broker compromise if the ultra-liberal-SF ankle biters are always gnawing at her.So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
