Scoop 0 #1 October 24, 2006 The UK has had enough of foreign workers stealing jobs that they are putting a cap on the number of unskilled workers allowed in the country when the EU embraces Romania and wherever it was. I was in the high street in town the other day, I stood for 15 minutes while I waited for someone and not one group of people who walked past was British. Mind boggling. Tonto 1 #2 October 24, 2006 Yup. Your muddy little island would have no economy at all if it were not for all those "groups." I guess that's what they mean by "reaping what you sow." All that colonial expansion has come back to haunt you. tIt's the year of the Pig.
NCclimber 0 #3 October 24, 2006 Didn't you know that aliens are just as entitled as citizens to take advantage of what your country has to offer. As least that's what many think in this country. It's our brave new world. Or is it a kinder gentler nation? Get with the program, dooooooood!

Scoop 0 #6 October 24, 2006 I'm not saying anyone should go back but we should have limited the access way before now. How could they not see that unemployed young adults, from countries less economically developed as ours, would flock in there thousands seeking work? It's kinda obvious really. Now they react when there is a problem rather than preventing it in the first place. Then we got the whole issue of culture integration but thats a whole different topic altogether

shropshire 0 #8 October 24, 2006 Maybe these Eastern cousins should go to India instead, that's where most of our jobs are going (certainly from the company I work for attend.) The problem is, the EU is s'posed to be an open market. If we start to apply barriers so will everyone else... maybe the houses bought by Brits in France & Spain will be nationised and handed out to their poor, who can't afford houses in their own countries anymore because of the inflation caused by the holiday home brigade. These people are only doing what we would do if we could or had to. It could be a very slippery slope. (.)Y(.) Scoop 0 #9 October 24, 2006 Yes but whats ours is ours and whats theirs is ours as well, don't you know! @ Shropshire... they've done it dude, the government is doing it according to the news. Only 20,000 unskilled workers allowed. People with professional qualification swill not be limited at all. Which makes me wonder if Tony Blair reads dropzone.com's Speakers Corner a few months ago Wheres my Credit Tony, wheres my credit!?

Scoop 0 #13 October 24, 2006 Yeah quite good, what was interesting is the romanian guy expressing his dismay (shock, horror huh) stating that it has brought a lot of skilled people to us to work. My brothers girlfriend is Slovakian, over there she was an art teacher, but over here she works in a Bed & Breakfast because she gets more money. Shes saving up for a house, then shes going to return home when shes got what she wants to achieve. Part of me can't blame her but part of me thinks its cheeky. I guess what I'm saying is even so called professionals end up in unskilled employment, which is sad to our average pikey worker and thats a shame, because I like pikeys
BillyVance 35 #14 October 24, 2006 Heck, here in the states, we have been putting up with all the damn Mexicans coming over the border, getting jobs for cash under the table, not paying taxes and using our health system for free, then reporting themselves to INS before Christmas and getting a free ride back to Mexico, only to cross the border again in January and start all over again. But heck, most of the chicken processing plants employ Mexicans for the most part because nobody else would do that kind of work."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban

Yeah, that is the flipside of the coin Yes. While I do admire the Mexicans' work ethic and family ties (which makes a lot of other Americans look really bad), I just wish they would do things the right way and be legal immigrants. mr2mk1g 10 #17 October 24, 2006 QuoteI hear the Indians felt that way about the Brits. I don't think it's the ex-colonies he's having a rant about; it's Eastern Europeans who we're seeing migrating in droves. When Europe expanded easterly 2 years ago our Govt. said they expected no more than migrants 15,000 a year. They were told they were nuts at the time but they poo pooed any suggestion that their figures might be wrong. Well in the last 18 months there have been 600,000 people move here. That's 1% of our total population in only a year and a half and thirty times the figure the Govt. assured us would arrive! The amusing side of the story of course is seeing the confusion in the ranks of the BNP et al. "Paki go home" was an easy enough slogan for knuckle draggers to remember. They're now having problems changing to "Go home white, English-speaking Christian skin-head wearing jeans and a sports shirt". Firstly this doesn't have quite the same ring to it and secondly, (and most amusingly), tends to lead to extreme confusion as that's pretty much an exact description of not only your average Pole but also the archetypal BNP member!
