I'm all for harsher treatment of drug dealers, but covering up a shooting is bull.

It sounds like there is quite a bit missing from the story.

Drug dealers. POT. Gimme a break. How bout the phamachutical corps,(big corps) and doctors shoving all the fuckin drugs down your throat you dont need. Gimme a fuckin break. I'll smoke a joint rather any day. BUT I can't cause I have to take drug tests for work. But's it OK to get bilthering drunk. WTF is wrong w/ this picture?

The true crime is the legislation that created the blackmarket that in turn created the smuggler. Mj is NEVER going away. Billions of dollars are wasted every year soley on mj. Just a fraction of the funds alloted for the "drug war" (Damn, America loves the word "war") are used to combat the dangerous drugs such as heroin, cocaine and meth. But, it is far easier for the government to locate, arrest and convict pot smugglers, dealers and smokers and to use those numbers to falsly claim that they are winning their war in order to increase the funding to continue fighting an unwinnable war. Many in law enforcement agree with this. Many LOE's agree that arresting pot smokers is a waste of time and taxpayers money when there are far more important issues to address. What caused this unfortunate incident is not the smuggler, not the pot and not the BPO's but the legislation that created the chain that lead to the incident.

I disagree. A smuggler is a smuggler whether it's rum, pot, heroin, human beings or parrots. This one just chose pot as his "product".

Damn parrot smugglers......:P

A man has been charged after allegedly trying to smuggle parrot eggs out of Australia in his underpants.

The 50-year-old man, from Lurnea in Sydney's south, was about to board a flight to Zurich on Friday when he was detained by Customs Service officers at Sydney Airport for a search.

Officers allegedly found 23 eggs hidden in his underpants.

The man was searched as a result of inquiries by the Customs Service and the Department of Environment and Heritage, and was charged with attempting to export regulated native specimens.

A customs spokeswoman said it was not yet known what kind of parrot the eggs came from, or whether the eggs were viable.

"I understand they're in an incubator at the moment," she said.

The Department of Environment and Heritage would assess whether the eggs could be hatched, she said.

The man was granted bail to appear in the Downing Centre Local Court on December 14.

The maximum penalty for wildlife smuggling under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act is 10 years' jail and/or a $110,000 fine.

It's a serious problem.

But it's totally ok to smuggle over $1,000,000 worth of pot across an international border?

I'm not saying the Border Patrol agents are innocent but, neither is the damned drug smuggler. How can you justify tossing two Border Patrol Agents in jail for 10+ years based on the testimony of the drug smuggler they were trying to apprehend while giving him immunity for crimes that would otherwise send his ass to prison for at least an equal term?

Me thinks it's called the U.S Constitution and the prevailing law. Boy I sure hope you ain't a cop or judge

Well, me thinks you've smoked too much crack if you think the the United States Constitution guarantees Mexican Nationals the right to smuggle large quantities of narcotics across international borders.

Perhaps you should try reading the Constitution
