Do I believe the Dems knew beforehand? Yup, I do. Do I have conclusive proof of it? Nope, sure don't. Do I believe the Dems held the evidence to use at the best time? Abso-fuggin-lutely. QuoteAt this point you'd have to prove they held it for 5 years, since Foley's behavior has been known at least that long. And you'd have to then claim that they decided NOT to use it for an incredibly close presidential election, and instead wait for a less-important mid-term election. Occam's Razor applies. Other than the fact that the emails didn't come forward until last year, that would be sort of difficult, don't you think?Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. rehmwa 2 #27 October 18, 2006 QuoteQuote All each needs to do is to just sit back and pay attention. Well there you go again, what's with the high expectations? "High expectations" of politicians spending more time paying attention in order to find a regular flow of smut they can release against each other? At least if they are in a mode of 100% of their time spent mudslinging and defending against mudslinging, then they won't be screwing things up worse for the rest of us every day. Would it just be easier to provide them, at taxpayer expense, with a regular flow of sex workers?.... "tactice" - that hat old people wear when driving their roadsters. you know, the floppy one with the snap on the brim. ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants

GOP congressmen saw explicit messages from Foley to pages back in 2000. So if your conspiracy theory includes a GOP representative leaking the messages to a democrat who then sat on them, you'd have to explain why they waited for a less-meaninful election, rather than using them during a more important election. --------------------------------------------- Lawmaker Saw Foley Messages in 2000 By Jonathan Weisman The Washington Post Monday 09 October 2006 A Republican congressman knew of disgraced former representative Mark Foley's inappropriate Internet exchanges as far back as 2000 and personally confronted Foley about his communications. A spokeswoman for Rep. Jim Kolbe (R-Ariz.) confirmed yesterday that a former page showed the congressman Internet messages that had made the youth feel uncomfortable with the direction Foley (R-Fla.) was taking their e-mail relationship. Last week, when the Foley matter erupted, a Kolbe staff member suggested to the former page that he take the matter to the clerk of the House, Karen Haas, said Kolbe's press secretary, Korenna Cline. . . . A source with direct knowledge of Kolbe's involvement said the messages shared with Kolbe were sexually explicit, and he read the contents to The Washington Post under the condition that they not be reprinted. But Cline denied the source's characterization, saying only that the messages had made the former page feel uncomfortable. Nevertheless, she said, "corrective action" was taken. Cline said she has not yet determined whether that action went beyond Kolbe's confrontation with Foley.
