Names of wars are usually the result of either journalistic sales or government propagada. In both cases however, somebody calls it something and enough people agree to use that as the name of it. It should also be noted that the same war can be called different things depending on which side you're on and who "wins".quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

Heck, the people who fought (and died) in world war 1 did not call it world war 1; they called it the great war. Historians later labeled it world war 1 to distinguish the great war from the later great war (WWII.)

It was installed in 1923, and called it the World War. Obviously, there wasn't a number. This is a small town of 1000-1500 people. 3 died in WW1. 25 or so died in the Civil War. Let's not forget the impact of a civil war on a country. Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. NCclimber 0 #18 October 11, 2006 Most small towns (in what were Union and Confederate states) have memorials near the courthouse or square. On the memorials I've seen, fallen civil war soldiers are several times greater than those for all other wars combined.
