TheAnvil 0 #1 October 6, 2006 I've been fairly disgusted with politics in general as of late, and am wondering if anyone else was feeling the same way. I find I'm just disgusted with what I see happening overall. Thoughts? Comments? Random insults? I'm going to drink tequila and do some work. StreetScooby 5 #3 October 6, 2006 Yes, I am disgusted with politics, also. Don't know what to do about it, though. Ah, here's my cooler.... We are all engines of karma
jimmytavino 16 #4 October 6, 2006 politics..... will NEVER improve.... Until we get rid of alll the Politicians...... Why isn't this country being run by scientists, engineers, health care professionals, teachers, architects and urban planners, and those who have SOME degree of selfLESSness..... I almost included DZOs on that list.... but then came to my senses.. Disgusted????? Yes.. Yes I am,,,, and I'm a pretty tolerant, and patient Guy....and can put up with quite a bit... Only the last 6 years or so, I see deterioration locally and nationally, in the areas of crime rate, value for dollars earned, respect for one another and care of OUR OWN citizens ( you Know, the ones who "foot the bill, pay the Tab "..),,, not to mention the Horrific reputation which the USA has "earned for itself". by marching all over the place. "instilling democracy", in a very "selective" ( and incorrect) way..... Granted running the country is a TOUGH job.... and only someone with their own "personal agenda" would even think to compete for the position... ( i.e. selfish people ) The next person to run for office, based on the platform,,,, " Keeping the price of Jet A under 2 bucks a gallon ".... has MY vote.jmy
mnealtx 0 #5 October 6, 2006 I think one of the main problems is the power that is associated with the position, and the fact that it's become a career. Find a way to take away those perks, and the system will revert to it's original design - where ordinary people go to serve the country for a couple years, then go back home to their "real" jobs...Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. freethefly 6 #6 October 6, 2006 Been disgusted since the Arms for Hostages deal back in the 80's. freethefly 6 #7 October 6, 2006 QuoteThe next person to run for office, based on the platform,,,, " Keeping the price of Jet A under 2 bucks a gallon ".... has MY vote. Been watching fuel price drop in this area. 100LL and Jet A are both at $3.34 and the cost of a jump is still at $21.00. Hell, fuel could drop well below $2.00 and I seriously doubt that the cost of a jump will ever drop. I wonder why jump price only follows fuel cost when it rises and not when it falls? Cheaper fuel = higher profit. http://www.airnav.com/fuel/"...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." I thought these folks were supposed to take a break from working the farm to go do some legislating. Isn't it time for them to go back to the fields? Actually I'd prefer it if they only worked about one week a year. They seem to cause more problems than they solve while they're in session.

NCclimber 0 #10 October 6, 2006 Political discourse seems to be the most polemic in recent history. The extremists are driving the dialogue. Personally, I think those on the left are an overly emotional lot, prone hysterical exagerations, i.e. Fascist Regime, our civil rights are (all) being taken away, Ware for oil, chickenhawk chickenhawk chickenhawk, they knew he was a pedophile and did nothing! Of course, the likes of Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter do their part to fan the flames of uncooperative hostility.

jimmytavino 16 #12 October 6, 2006 I'd still vote for the guy who promises, Under 2 bucks... .... and I'd still pay today lift prices... .....Why??? cause what's wrong with a DZ making a better profit??? man, The ability to stroll onto a dropzone,,,drop a twenty and some change, enjoy a Thrilling adventure, and then walk away, with NO headaches ( the type of which DZOs and owners, deal with 24 - 7...),,is a damn privledge...and one that many skydivers take for granted... So the lower the overheads, the happier the DZOs and the happier the DZOs the more fun it is to be on a dropzone... mfrese 0 #15 October 6, 2006 Oh shit, Vinnie finally came up with a thread for me to make my first post in SC! Paraphrasing Arthur C. Clarke from, I think, "The Fountains of Paradise": It's obvious that no one who campaigns for a political office should be allowed to have it. Zenister 0 #16 October 6, 2006 Now? no more than usual... The US system has 'devolved' into a monster it was never intended to be... the 2 party system is undermining nearly every principle the US once stood for... VERY few politicians are " of the People" instead they've become a self perpetuating aristocracy... the best method i can imagine to fix it is to allow a "None of the options offered are acceptable, reapply with new candidates" on every ballot..____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
