Another US School Shooting

What really bothers me is that it's happening so often it no longer shocks me.

They attack kids for the shock value, to get their 15 minutes of infamy.

And they know that since schools are gun-free zones, that there won't be anyone there to stop them.

Thus, schools are perfect victim zones for the deranged.

Are you seriously suggesting that all school kids should take guns to school?:S

Upon what do you base that?

My understanding of the Amish. There are bible quotes about killing people too....don't see to many Amish doing that either....so posting a couple of bible quotes is rather silly.

If you have some relevant information about the Amish and their gun ownership, please do post away.

As I understand it, the Amish renounce violence even in self-defence, believing that their attacker might see something of God's love and forgiveness in their non-resistance. Can't find a source for that at the moment, but I read it in the paper.

That is how understand it too. Walking around with guns for self defence would not fit that thought. However, JohnRich seems to know better and is probably searching the NRA website for Amish references as we speak.

In the mean time, the media is reporting that the Amish community has reached out to the family of the shooter and is openly asking for foregiveness of the shooter by society at large.

JR, we'll await your counterpoint. (hopefully consisting of more than some carefully picked bible quotes)

Just as you have no right to make that determination for everyone else on the planet, you also have no right to make that determination for everyone else in the UK.

Do you want someone else deciding for you that you can't skydive?

It's amazing to me that you can reach that illogical conclusion from my statement.

Um, you are the one who opened the topic, so it's up to you to provide something to prove your point. We can't just assume it to be true simply because you say so. They try to stay away from modern technology, but that doesn't extend to tools, and firearms are just tools that have been around for quite some time. So I'm curious to learn facts.

You can own guns without using them for self defense. They are quite handy on farms for pests and for harvesting food.

I note that you too, have nothing to show regarding Amish beliefs about gun ownership, yet you are still willing to bash me for asking.

Ok John, leavinf bidirectional sniping aside; what would you suggest to help stop these kind of attacks?
