UK Prisons are full

Recommended Posts

I vote for prison ships or penal rigs out in the North Sea for the worst offenders. How would you solve the problem?

Obviously social reform is also needed but for the short term solution penal hulks and rigs.

Having reminded myslef of the story I found this...

'To deal with this problem, the distribution centers have a heavy police presence, and they deal with the rioting crowds in a very heavy-handed way using 'scoops' — special vehicles that scoop up people from the crowd and dump them into containers at the back.'

Kind of clears up how Scoop got his name!:o

Ha ha! Indeed - surely a 'humane' death sentence for the very worst offenders is the way forward - taking into account that there 100% proof of the crime committed.

It could free up a bit of space and help reduce the amount of crims getting out on early release and re-offending. But then this is another issue altogether!

'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'

I know your half kidding, but I always strugle with that one. Not so much the concept but the execution of the policy (forgive the pun). People such as proper paedophiles, and people like Malcomb Sutcliff and Ian Huntley fair play. But I just feel it would be to open for abuse if the Judges had that power. Maybe if it could be applied by special licence by a panel of Judges, maybe.
